Absolutely loved this location - a bit far from Cape Trib, but def worth a few nights. We stayed in a double room/tent which was perfect, basic (I mean remember what you're paying!) just a bed/mosquito net, but the balcony into the rain forest was fantastic. The room was very open and had all the sounds of the rain forest which provided for a great experience =) The kitchen was adequate and we ate at the restaurant for the bbq on Sunday, which was good ($20 for food and 2 drinks!). It's very quite accommodation, nestled in the rain forest and if that interests you, Crocodylus is where you should stay!

This is an extraordinary place, a camp of wood framed canvas rooms set on raised wooden platforms. Our double en suite room was fairly basic but had a shower that was usually hot. Our balcony was very private and looked out into the rainforest.
The hostel kitchen is excellent, as is the reasonably priced restaurant. There is also a bar and a small pool. No WiFi.
The small staff are knowledgeable and friendly. There is a self-guided walking trail - beware, we met a snake - and guided night walks are offered which are a little expensive but interesting and informative.

During our far north Queensland trip over the September school holidays we stayed for three marvelous days at Crocodylus village in Cow Bay. The accommodation was basic but clean and the staff were welcoming and helpful. The village has an authentic rainforest feel, great self-cater kitchen facilities and a comfortable eating and communal area. There's also a bar, coffee and a restaurant where Sally cooks some great meals. The sunrise paddle trip they run was excellent - our 11yr old son was particularly captivated by Steve, who is so chirpy and passionate about the region. This is not the place to stay if you expect 5 star facilities but we found it perfect for our needs - friendly, relaxing, comfortable and as immersed in the rainforest as you can get without actually camping. A great base to enjoy the beautiful area!

As soon as we arrived, we kitted up, and were taken on a brilliant and informative night walk with Steve (we'd booked in advance)
Saw a wonderful array of creatures, and a great way to suddenly immerse ourselves in such a wonderful and unique environment.

Stayed in basic safari hut, which was part of the charm of the experience.

Recommend the Sunday BBQ too - amazing value.
Friendly and knowledgable staff.
Definitely recommend as a base to explore the area.

It's true that this is probably the most economic place in the area, but make sure this is what you are looking for. Accomodation is comprised of spacious and well-ventilated tents, and we had no insects or "furry friends" come in but people who are not comfortable with being immersed in a natural habitat should not stay there.
Quite disappointed with the pool, which was green and didn't look clean, but the meal at the restaurant was lovely.
Unfortunately we didn't have time to do the walks around the site but they are probably very rewarding for bird watchers as I saw a Noisy Pitta walking from the restaurant to our room !

Our family of 3 generations stayed at Crocodylus Village during our recent holiday in Far North Queensland. We wanted an authentic rainforest experience to follow a snorkelling trip on the reef. Crocdylus was a great choice (so was the snorkelling trip - but that's another review). We loved the forest night walk and the children had a wonderful time exploring the forest net morning, making tree houses and swinging on vines. The accommodation is no frills, but clean. Huts/floored tents are spread out amongst the trees in a way that allows guests to feel they are really staying within the rainforest canopy. The large communal area also has that rustic, 'set within a forest' feel. There is a wide range of activities on offer, in addition to the many options available within the Daintree Rainforest area. Self catering facilities are on offer, but we enjoyed Cathy's excellent cooking.

Lovely atmosphere, amazing location in the middle of the rainforest. Loved the communal area, a self cater kitchen is an excellent option whilst Sally's cooking is not to be missed. Keep this a secret so that the place doesnt get overrun by tourists :)
