From what I can gather is that the location isn't actually in cape trib, but you are so immersed in the rainforest anyhow. Really got a taste of this alternative, amazing and natural place. Owners were lovely - and the food (Shelley??) made was out of this world and good value for money. Big social area - great for the night time. Only niggle I had was poor lighting at night back to the cabins, but that was me being scared of toads!!! Young boy receptionist absolutely lovely!

Got a free upgrade to huge family sized room. Clean and airy but mattress was really old. Common room is nice place to hang out, food was good. Hosts are friendly and helpful and good for advice. It was nice to spend 2 nights in the rainforest listening to the birds. Watch out for the frogs on the way back at night.

This place is so nice, everybody is warm and friendly. Just love the vibe.

Of course, location is great..beach is only few mins away. They have their own trail.

Many tours to be offered.

Love the no lock policy in dorm rooms.

Thank you Steve, will visit again.

We did not stay at Crocodylus but we did participate in the Jungle Night Walk hosted here. This night walk was led by a very friendly Aussie by the name of "Possum". He was informative and very observant. Although we did not see many mammals that evening we did see many frogs, spiders, snails and learned about the local flora and fauna. It was a fun and interesting activity deep in the rainforest at night... if you are brave! I wish we had participated in more activities offered here.

These cabins are set in the rainforest so there is a lovely outlook from your room and it is very natural with many birds calls and other rainforest sounds. With the rainforest also comes the critters so don't be alarmed if a toad jumps on your foot as you walk back to your cabin at night. I stayed in April and the mosquitos were very bad. The cabins are very basic and simple and a bit old. I chose a room with a bathroom and you can only use the water between certain hours. The water was sometimes warm but mostly cool. Definitely no hot showers. The reception and café also have limited hours they are open. Internet costs $5/hour or $2/20 minutes. The meals in the restaurant are like home cooked meals and dinner costs $15. The dining area is large and open and is situated near the pool. I did a night tour but we didn't see much as it was a full moon. I wanted to go sea kayaking but it was too windy and they weren't operating in these conditions. It is about a 30 minute drive to Cape Tribulation, where a lot of the tourist activity seems to be. Quite close to the Daintree Discovery Centre.

Not sure what happend to the showers for Yvette as they should have been hot during our allocated shower times
Water runs 24hrs however showers are limited to 6.30AM to 9PM
Reception Hours are 7.30-11am and 4-9pm

We are in the rainforest, generate our own electricity and water systems, and try to keep our carbon footprint as small as we can without inconveniencing our guests too much.

Internet is also affected by our remote location as it is available only by satellite and has very limited and expensive bandwidth

All the activities in the Cape Tribulation area are spread equally along the 40km stretch from Cow Bay (where we are) to Cape Trib - Cow Bay has board walks, Discovery Centre, night walks, kayaking, horse riding, bike hire, water holes and of course the beach itself

Cheers Sally and Steve

We stayed for 2 nights in early May – a really excellent experience. As you will see from the other reviews, Sally and Steve are excellent hosts – full of useful information and extremely friendly. The bar/restaurant is a great spot after dark but the real star attraction is the forest – you are in it, not just looking at it. The bungalows are clean and rustic (in a very positive way). We are an Anglo/Danish family (by way of Tasmania) and we loved this place – the best advertisement is that we would go back tomorrow.

Room Tip: Ask Steve or Sally for advice on what to see/where to go - they are very knowledgeable and very help...

this place is so special, set in the middle of the rainforest, yet accessible by the main road, heaps of wildlife and fantastic home cooked food (available really cheap with massive portions!). Sally & Steve were so welcoming and friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the area. you can book lots of local discounted stuff through them and they even have guided night walks that leave from the front door! the common space was awesome with a pool table, darts, swimming pool, comfy sofas, books to read, board games, internet, a bar and a cafe. the shared kitchen, toilets and showers were all ready clean and well equipped (we got an ensuite cabin which was really nice too). we had an amazing deck that went right out into the rainforest and totally private (great for romantics ;)...). i can't wait to go back there...sally i am missing your food, and steve, joe is missing your beer, lol!

Room Tip: if you want privacy and romance book a family cabin with ensuite ;)
