Owner description: The Discovery Centre is a world-class ecotourism facility nestled in the heart of the world’s oldest tropical rainforest. As the #1 Attraction in the Daintree it provides a wonderful introduction to this iconic world heritage destination. The spectacular Canopy Tower and Aerial Walkway allow visitors to explore every level of the forest and Audio Guides in 6 languages are a hit with overseas visitors. But it is it’s innovative Carbon Offset Project that is attracting attention! Part of every entry fees goes towards ‘saving the planet’ via its bio-sequestration scheme. The Discovery Centre is sustainable ecotourism at its best!

I didn't know what to expect when my sister recommended we go to the Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the visit! It is set up brilliantly and the staff is wonderful. The Daintree as a whole is stunning and well worth a visit. What is so impressive about the Discovery Center is that you are both immersed in the different aspects of the rainforest and educated about it extensively. While the Daintree is beautiful, at times it can be inaccessible to visitors. The Discovery Center ensures visitors are able to be immersed in the rainforest and appreciate it. My family and I spent a few hours there and had a delightful time. Another benefit is that it very environmentally friendly and apparently carbon neutral. I highly recommend a visit!

Having left Cairns as a resident in 1991, I recently returned to "rediscover" the region.
Imagine my surprise and delight to find that the Daintree has now become an eco friendly accessible area complimented exceptionally well by the Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre.
What a fantastic experience - very informative and user friendly with entertaining walkways and audio commentary that caters to visitors of all levels and ages.
Well done guys.

We thought we knew alot about the "Daintree". This place is such a wealth of information regarding the native flora & fauna. We limited ourselves to an hour but nearly 2 hours went by. It is not like a zoo that is fenced off , when listening to the audio guide ( which is part of the entree fee) it mentions that a cassawary may pass though at any time of the day as it is situated in a pathway of this wonderful bird. We were not one of the lucky ones to view this. Maybe the wrong time of day . The bird life scatching on the floor to even those 'beautiful' longlegged spiders that weave their web near the boardwalk. Not my favorite but they were there. The touch & feel objects along the way. That giant strangler fig . At the time of our visit an open return ticket for the next 7 days was stamped into our guide book. This is great value if you are in the area over this time even if you pay to use the ferry over the Daintree river. It was recommended to us and we thought 'another tourist attraction!!' . We can recommend this wonderful tourist attraction. I gather one is not far human neighbours but you are not aware of anything but the Daintree forest, the height it grows & how dense the forest is. This centre gave us info we could use when walking along other boardwalks in the Daintree
AAAAA Please visit And pay extra for a guide as they add lots of personal info (heard one while walking about )

We loved visiting the Daintree Rainforest Discovery Centre. The place was easy to find, really well maintained, spectactular boardwalk through the rainforest and a great audio to listen to while we were walking. The staff were friendly and informative and we felt most welcome.

1.when you find a book number the best thing is to read it right where the sign is so if it pionts to certain things you know what it looks like.
2.when you find an audio guide number punch it in and stay at the sign for a couple of seconds then keep walking to the next number.
3.read the boards on the tower if you want more info.
4.watch all of the interpretive displays and the moives in the theatre(some of them can be quite funny and you could be there for hours).
5.try and do as many things as you can and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
