This is our local pub and is a great place for Sunday Lunch and also a quick pint if required. The tsunday lunches are great value and we have spent may a long lunchtime with friends and a bottle of wine. Highly recommend this pub for a family sunday Lunch without the needd for washing up. Portions are generous and the meat is always lovely.

Ate lunch here with the family good value pub grub much of it home made and a warm helpful welcome.

Good for a visit to the nice gift, gallery and to shops in the old part of the town.

I have visited the Bear on several occasions and have never been disappointed in the food that is on offer. Portions are generous and well presented. The staff are friendly and attentive. The atmosphere is good and will definitely return.

We have been meaning to try this restaurant for quite a while, but the fact it is a carvery kept putting us off, but we decided to give it a go last Sunday and we are really glad we did.
The staff were very friendly and made you feel right at home, very polite and helpful waitresses, we were shown through to the carvery area, and the chef was so cheerful and friendly also, there was a lovely selection of pipping hot roasts, (well cooked beef, rare beef, turkey, roast pork, mustard and honey glazed ham), was really surprised that the vegetables weren’t at this area, but instead were delivered to your table in tourines, which kept them lovely and hot, a lovely selection of veg too, sprouts (my fav), crunchy fresh sweet carrots, cabbage, runner beans, honey roast parsnips and roast potatoes and home-made yorkshire pudding DELICIOUS!!!

The selection of desserts were also fabulous and they were presented beautifully and tasted as good as they looked.

We will be back!
