Brockley Estate offers one of the best and most intimate B&B experience you will find in Australia.

My girlfriend and I stayed there for one night in March and we're completely blown away. The house itself is beautifully-restored, incredibly cosy and located on a vast property that stretches along the Prosser River. We walked along the river for about an hour and managed to see a few platypus and wallabies.

While the house and location are stunning, the incredibly gregarious hosts Julian and Chaxi are what make the experience. Their hospitality knows no bounds and the food and wine they serve (all locally-sourced) is fresh and delicous - I doubt you will find a better meal in Tasmania.

I can't speak more highly of the experience. Julian and Chaxi have created a truly amazing experience at Brockley Estate and I would encourage anyone visiting Tasmania to stay at their wonderful B&B.

Our stay in Tasmania will be remembered if not for anything else but for our one night at Brockley Estate; glorious setting, beautiful restored farmhouse and such welcoming hosts in Julian & Chaxi. We were contatced in the day prior to our stay to see if we wished to have supper at the estate, and wished we hadn't ate so much for lunch, as our entry to the house was met with such wonderful cooking smells. The rooms were very comfortable, and very much in keeping with the period charm of the building, which had been very sympathetically restored throughout. Breakfast was fantastic and plentiful, and we really can't speak highly enough of this as a location for typifying what a B&B should be about. I'm afraid to say, everywhere else we stayed was measured against this one night, and all were found wanting. Thanks Rob & Lynda

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights and even before we arrived our expectations were exceeded. I was called earlier in the day to be asked if we'd like to be joined for dinner with a full run down of the menu that couldn't be resisted. Jullian and Chaxi are amazing hosts and we arrived to be served a phenomenal 3 course meal. The estate is set in beautiful country side and is outstanding inside and out. They have decorated the entire property perfectly with a antique warm country estate style. A real hidden gem and will definitely return!

We stayed at Brockely for three night and enjoyed every minute of it. It's a stone Colonial house and it's decorated with beautiful antique, all the private rooms and shared rooms are decorated beautifully. It's located on on 10,000 private acres and it's surrounded by beautiful scenery. Julian and Chaxi are lovely hosts, very friendly and very professional. It wouldn't be the same experience if it wasn't for the delicious authentic spanish food that Chaxi cooked every night.

This accommodation is our most memorable from 3 visits to tassie.the property itself is quaint and charming and alone is worth the visit..we stayed in the best chamber room which was immaculate with opening to a verandah overlooking a beautiful farm briming with wildlife. The most impressive feature of the stay was the culinary one.Chaxi is a phenomenal chef and Julian's knowledge of wine and local procure was awesome compliment to the meal.there is lots to do in and around the farm -from canoeing up the placid river to horse riding the local terrain.to summarise in a word -flawless.

Having walked the Convict Road, we arrived at sunset to this amazingly restored historic homestead surrounded by a wide & beckoning verandah. Our hosts, Julian & Chaxi, were immediately welcoming & lovely. They showed us to our stunning rooms filled with antiques & all the little modern creature comforts.
After freshening up, we were treated to pre dinner nibbles & drinks from local producers in the Conservatory. In fact, Brockley prides itself on supporting local & Tasmanian producers! Chaxi then had us drooling over the first of many of her delicious meals that she loving cooks & presents with great flourish to her eager guests. We were very spoilt. There is a widely interesting collection of books & deep lounges to recline in after our meal in the formal lounge room before retiring to bed. The biggest & simplest treat for me was the 'tea tray' that sat waiting on the wide sills in our room. After a wonderfully deep sleep in luxuriously comfortable beds, we threw back the curtains, swung open the French windows to let the morning sunshine in & sipped on our selection of beverages from our beds or on the verandah. What a charming & genteel way to start a day...
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend staying with these delightful hosts in their beautiful home in this very pretty piece of the world.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Time spent at Brockley Estate is an experience entirely different from what you expect in conventional so-called ‘colonial’ accommodation. The 170-year-old sandstone and convict brick homestead blends seamlessly into its traditional Tasmanian landscape surroundings, with generous verandahs, ancient English trees and hawthorn hedges stretching down to the wide Prosser River.Inside, mellow antique furniture, textiles, pictures and ceramics exude an atmosphere of effortless elegance and good taste that would be almost impossible to replicate in a purely commercial context. With food and wine of a quality rarely encountered in a private house anywhere in Australia, this is genuine colonial country life as it really was and, one hopes, always will be if you know where to look. Now that you are indeed in the know, why not come and share it with us? ... more   less
