“Great place to stay”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

Domaine La Veronique has been a wonderful experience we will never forget. Everything from the excellent food and wine to the beautiful views overlooking the vineyards was fantastic. Peter and Sally are the perfect hosts. Every day we waited in anticipation to see what exciting food Peter had prepared from the local produce and we were never disappointed. The wines also from the local area were excellent. Sally took us on some excursions and her knowledge of the local and surrounding areas was very informative. Our stay of 3 nights was not long enough so we plan to enjoy more of their hospitality in the near future. You could not find a better place to stay.

My wife and I, accompanied by two other couples, visited this wonderful place in the Languedoc of southern France in early June of this year (2013). We had been Peter and Sally's first customers for three days when they opened Domaine La Veronique in 2011, and we couldn't wait to go back.

Our enthusiasm was well earned. The food was marvellous every day,the wines were outstanding, and the cheeses were superb. Every day as part of lunch we had three different local cheeses, one each of cow's, goat's,and sheep's cheese, along with three local wines: red white, and rose. If you've never developed an appreciation for cheeses and wines, that regimen will make you a big fan. The dinners were all excellent, and the variety was amazing.

Sally made sure that we visited all kinds of historic and fascinating sites, and even arranged for two of the guys to play a round of golf at the local course with some British retirees who live nearby. When the week's cruise on the Danube we had planned to follow the visit had to be cancelled (the Danube suffered "100-year" flooding this year), Sally and Peter put us all up for another three days, with not the slightest reduction of service . And because we also had to rearrange our travel plans to get back home at the last minute through totally different airports, Sally found a driver to take us to Barcelona to start the trip.

We've never had a better experience, anywhere, and we're already planning to return in two years. We very highy recommend it to everyone.

P. S. The accomodations are outstanding, and the views are magnificant!

For our honeymoon, we planned a week in Paris and a barge trip on the Canal du Midi. My new husband had dreamed of waking up in a village in the south of France, so we booked a few days here prior to embarking on our canal cruise. It turned out to be my favorite part of a fabulous honeymoon! The setting is spectacular, with nothing but green as far as the eye can see. We biked through vineyards, and along the Canal du Midi. We did whitewater kayaking on the Orb. We visited Roquebrun and enjoyed the Mediterranean gardens. There is nothing discordant in the area--everything is old, stone, natural, and beautiful. The residents are very friendly. Sally was extremely helpful in providing suggestions for activities, directions, and assistance in every aspect. Peter is an architect, and designed the house and pool, and every detail is stunning, harmonious, and tranquil. Just sitting or walking around the house and grounds is a pleasure. In addition, every meal Peter prepared was exciting and delicious, and beautifully presented. He also introduced us to some amazing cheeses, and his wine pairings are impeccable. My vote for our one year anniversary celebration is a week at Domaine La Veronique!

If you would like to stay in the most idyllic of settings surrounded by vineyards and spectacular views with an amazing gourmet chef plying you with fantastic food and wine, and a brilliant tour guide entertaining and instructing on the history of this beautiful part of southern France, look no further than Domaine La Veronique. You may also be lucky enough to have Sally entertain you with a few songs - she has a wonderful voice and we were very lucky!
Unfortunately, we could only stay 2 nights in this wonderful retreat that is part B & B, part small hotel. It is a truly unique property where you will be treated to delicious local cuisine served with brilliant presentation, lots of fabulous local wine and lots of great conversation and fun.
My only problem is that I have raved about Peter's cooking so much that I am expected to recreate all these dishes when we get home.
Our bedroom was upstairs with a fabulous view out over the swimming pool and a lovely breeze flowing through our window.
We loved Domaine La Veronique and I am sure you will too!

My husband and I recently returned from a wonderful trip to Domaine La Veronique with two other couples. For one of the couples this was their third stay with Peter and Sally and they have raved about them since their first experience. We were not disappointed! Peter is a wonderful gourmet chef, who loves to discuss everything about the meals he prepares. From the preparation to the pairings of wine and cheese, it was a foodies dream. Even for us foodie challenged it was fantastic learning and gourmet experience! We even visited a local farmers' market where Peter offered his expertise about the seafood and local cheeses. Sally took us on excursions to extraordinary historical sites, and was an excellent guide able to offer valuable information and explanations about the history of the areas. My husband and I also were able to take a kayak trip on the Orb river which was beautiful! La Veronique is a unique all inclusive experience which we are very happy to recommend and look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: There are three guest rooms en suite available, two up and one one the ground level. My husband and...

It isn't just the stunning food and the beautiful setting of Domaine La Veronique (please look at the pictures) which makes a holiday here so very special, the hospitality and warmth which Sally and Peter offer is genuine and first class. They are very happy to be flexible to ensure that everybody gets the holiday they want. There is so much in the area to visit and Sally's knowledge of the local history is excellent which makes the daily excursions really memorable.

All meals are a special occasion with each wine carefully selected to accompany each course and flavour to enhance the culinary experience, Peter is a first class chef.

We must also mention the swimming pool which is just great when returning at the end of a day and needing to cool down with a glass of wine before dinner.

A week here left us feeling completely recharged and relaxed - we can't wait to go back.

Our stay with Sally and Peter was truly one we will never forget. My husband and I enjoyed their wonderful hospitality, fabulous amenities, and unbelievable gourmet experiences. Their beautiul home is located in the most scenic area of France with views of nearby vineyards and the Pyranees. We had wonderul excursions to numerous historic villages hosted by Sally. She was an excellent guide who provided detailed explanations of the historic sites we visited. She is extremely knowledgeable about the area, which really made the sites we saw come alive. There were lots of opportunities to explore the area, and Sally could not have been more accommodating. We enjoyed every meal with Peter's gourmet touch. His expert pairings of wines and cheeses at lunch and dinner stretched our culinary experiences, and we find ourselves trying to emulate his style back at home. Not only is Peter an expert chef, but he is truly interested in educating his guests about the dishes he serves. Peter really makes the experience just that-an experience rather than a meal. Our room was lovely and we wanted for nothing. The pool and garden are lovely, and we found them peaceful and a wonderul place to relax. When we visited, we thoroughly enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere and pace in between our interesting outings. I cannot say enough positive words about Sally and Peter. If you are lucky enough to visit them, you will never forget them and Domaine La Veronique will become part of your best vacation memories.

Room Tip: All have beautiul views and great amenities
