Regularly walk my dogs around the fort edge, occasionally going into the circle. Dogs forbidden as sheep are often in the inner ring. Well worth the visit.

One of my favourite places as a kid , Danebury is an iron age hill fort that has a panoramic view of the area and miles around. The day we visited there was a bit of a wind and the crops looked like a moving sea. The climb to the top is quite a trek and steep , but worth it once you get to the top there are 2 paths marking the layout of the fort a high level and a low level. The top path is ringed by trees and teeming with wildlife, and there is grassland that had a extensive collection of chalk loving wild flowers that attracted bees and various insects, which is great for picnics. kids can run around the whole area along the tracks which dip and soar like a switchback and they can also race each other on the 2 levels, the boys wore themselves out! In addition to this its totally free!

I really enjoyed this site.

There is something very erie and tranquil about just taking time to walk along the walls and absorb the history of the site.

It made it even more surreal with the army explosions that were going off somewhere in the distance and the sound just seemed to wash over you.

It is a very tranquil place, lots of dog walkers.

Thank CrikeyJo
