We decided to visit the Warragul area for lunch and try the local winery restaurants. After visiting the first and thinking how stark and uninviting the restaurant area was we decided to procede to Brandy Creek. What a difference the Brandy Creek was, it had a cosy casual feel and inviting with such a great view of the surrounding hills.

One thing we didn't realsie was that as we had not phoned for a reservation we were lucky to catch the restaurant in Tapas mode. To clarify that, Brandy creek is famous for it's Paela feasts and entertainment. The weekends either side of us were special weekends, either with the feast or entertainment. So just a suggestion, check ahead to see whats on and that you can get in. By the way the Paela feast and entertainment was $78 per person which is quite reasonable.

After the waitress gave the customary glance accross the reservation list and we were taken to a table. First observation apart from the great view was that there were plenty of tables available.

Any back to our experience. I had never had Tapas before but new the concept. The waitress explained 2-3 items from the menu each depending how hungry you felt. So ordered drinks and 4 tapas items and a salad.

Firstly drinks arrived followed my the salad and the crispy duck. We had time to finish this and the lamb and barra arrived. Again time to finish this and the prawns arrived, as they were finger food I guess thats why they were last. All meals were excellent, good size portions and so tasty. Drinks service didn't happen during the meal unless you caught a waitresses eye. When all the plates were cleared we had to ask for a desert menu and coffees. We shared a desert with our coffee. Shame the staff weren't more efficient in this and drink service.

During the time we were there the restaurant filled to about half capacity which added to the casual feel. There is outdoor dining and the area we were in was a protected verandah area. I was surprised that is was very windy and we were quite comfortable at our table.

All up costs was about $10-12 per item add in drinks came to $94 for a most enjoyable lunch for the two of us, and I'm sure we will visit again but will remember to phone ahead next time.

Great venue for that special occasion as well a a quiet lunch in the sunshine with a friend. Great food, great service in the great outdoors. Close enough to 'big smoke' for a pleasant day out and a favourite spot for the locals too.

Lovely paella lunch, which you can choose which pan you wish to savour. If you love one in particular, certainly go up for more. Great entrees to select from too. Particularly love the port belly! Fabulous wines, and a great view from the terrace. Little pricy though!

We went for Sunday lunch. The tapas menu has a good range of items and 4 choices plus bread and a bottle of the winery's good un oaked chardonnay plus a shared dessert and 2 coffees provided us with a lovely lunch for just under $ 100. The view across to the mountains is stunning and the service friendly. They handle large numbers efficiently. The paella special events one of which we attended a while ago are also great value.

This is my third visit. The tapas is excellent and really enjoyed the wine, when we could order another glass! After initially placing an order it was very difficult to order additional dishes or drinks. Waiting staff were very busy and were reluctant to make eye contact to divert them from their task. It took 25 mins to attract attention to get the bill. Perhaps staff could have designated tables so guests don't get missed. It really took the edge off excellent quality food and wine.
