My partner and I walked to this pub from Beech Croft Farm Campsite - about a 30 minute walk. The bar staff were very friendly, the food was delicious and was all reasonably price. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Thank you for taking the time to review The Church Inn.
Its a great walk, with some stunning views over from Beech croft campsite. A favourite with many of our customers.
Hope to welcome you back on your next trip to the peak district.

Waa recommended the Church Inn by our accommodation host. Well worth the trip out of Buxton (through gorgeous countryside). Menu is simple yet tasty - you really don't need anything fancy in this local pub. Family all had different dishes - thoroughly recommend rabbit pie, pork tenderloins, beef with stilton dumplings, roast lamb steak and roast beef. Yorkshire pud was huge! Great service, good wine and beer. Pub was heaving so recommend booking.

Thanks for the review.
Good traditional home cooked food is what we aim for, together with a selection of local real ales and a friendly atmosphere. If the customers are happy we are happy.

We booked last minute on the Saturday to stay Sunday through to Tuesday, as the weather report was good, and the reviews from other guests were also very good. From past experience we knew that we did not want to stay in Buxton itself, but like the walking options in that area, so a country pub in a beautiful location suited us perfectly.

On arrival we were warmly greeted by Julie who promptly showed us to our room, as mentioned by others they are smallish, but adequate for our needs, and very clean and well equipped, warm and cosy, with an excellent shower and plenty of hot water, and adjustable heating to suit your needs,. If you have nice weather you also have the use of a small private patio area for guests use only.

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty and hot.

Varied lunchtime menu

Evening meals at the pub were excellent, with a good choice. Can recommend the Rabbit Pie, and also the Beef in Guinness with Stilton Dumpling, and Hubby said the Fruity Lamb Curry was extremely tasty.

We found it a good base for walking around the area, in a peaceful and pretty location. There are walks right outside the door if you don't want to drive.

We will certainly go back to the Church Inn when visiting the Beautiful Peak District and found the owners Justin and Julie and the young lady behind the bar (Sorry I do not remember your name) to be polite, charming and extremely helpful during our stay. The pub caters for tourists and locals alike and everybody mixes well. We enjoyed the pub quiz although we did not take part, it was a good atmosphere. maybe next time we visit we will join in !!

Thanks again for wonderful Derbyshire hospitality.

Sandy and Chris Frewin x

Room Tip: Only 4 rooms in a separate annexe to pub, all are excellent

We booked Friday 7th in the morning and arrived that afternoon to a warm welcome. We stayed for three nights bed and breakfast. We had a lovely relaxing weekend. Weather was not the best and we did not travel far. We ate in the pub every evening and thoroughly enjoyed every meal. The breakfasts were excellent. We watched the rugby attempted to play darts and very much enjoyed the Real Ales. The landlord and landlady were excellent as were all the staff and everyone including the locals was very friendly. The accommodation is comfortable, warm and cozy with very good decor. We definitely wish to return. Thank you to all for such an enjoyable weekend. We highly recommend.

We were staying at a nearby campsite in our van, and wanted Sunday roast. The owner of the campsite recommended The Church - and we can see why!

The landlord was friendly, helpful and welcoming. The bar is well stocked, and the food is superb. We both had the roast beef, and it was up there with the best I have ever tasted - melting in the mouth. The accompanying vegetables were just right, and the service was first-class.

We love the area, just a shame it's quite a trek to get there! If you find yourself near Buxton, pay The Church a visit - you won't be disappointed!

We stayed just down the road in a holiday cottage and visited The Church Inn on the August Bank Holiday Saturday evening......they were fully booked but managed to find us an early table. The food was amazing, home cooked, traditional English pub food. We visited a further 2 times as we were so impressed with the food and the friendliness of all the staff and the Landlord (but we booked each time to make sure as it is a busy place!) We tried to sample as many dishes on the menu as they all sounded lovely and we weren't disappointed with anything.....beef lasagne, rabbit pie, medallions of pork in a peppercorn sauce, lamb shank, trout.......and the puddings (my mouth is watering even now). A great Pub, great food and great service!!

Thank you for your review. Its great to have comments such as yours, especially on a busy bank holiday weekend. One day your just a small village pub and the next your home to huge volumes of visitors.
Its always welcome when someone shows their appreciation.
