Dropped in for lunch 2 years ago and received Charles' warm hospitality and witnessed Becci's attention to detail on the plate of sandwiches. We realised then that a longer stay was due. We have not been disappointed. The classy touches in the room - grapes, bathrobes, sherry! The George has a lot of style, generated by the hosts. The food is very high quality with generous portions and a menu with plenty of tempting choices. Breakfast is another great experience. The George only has 2 rooms, which is ideal, as you are made to feel special. There can be few visitors who will only want the experience once. We can't wait to return and we have already passed on the good news about this little gem to selected friends. After all we want to keep a little bit of the George's charm a secret for ourselves. Thoralby is a wonderful centre for walking the dales away from the crowds. After a long walk there is no finer prospect than some excellent real ale and a choice of Becci's classy home cooking.

Decided to re-visit this lovely pub that I frequented with a friend over 15 years ago, to celebrate my 60th birthday. We normally go caravaning and so it is a real treat for me to be waited on and spoilt. Well what a lovely weekend we had. Charles & Becci, made sure that we were fed and watered with scrumptious food and excellent Ale. Our dog Malic was welcomed in the pub. We were made to feel very welcome by the locals. Considering the snowy conditions we were kept lovely and warm and cosy in one of their two character built en-suite rooms...along with the plentiful supply and choice of hot drinks in the room, a lovely touch was the bowl of grapes and decanter of sherry. Loved the shower...... My memories of The George and Thoralby were better than I remembered. I will not hesitate in returning and would highly recommend The George Inn to everyone.

Ever wondered if the perfect Yorkshire Dales pub existed ? It does n this is it. We had a 2 night stay ( 1 being New years eve ) and just can't fault the place. The owners, Becci n Charles have thought of everything possible to make this pub what it is. Warm n friendly, cosey, welcoming, spotlessly clean, serve great food ( Becci doing the cooking, no aunt Bessies here !) and Charles out front ensuring all's well with the pub side. Their excuisite touches and attention to detail become more apparent with an overnight stay.We also love walking and you are in a great location for many long or short walks, the famous Aysgrth Falls are only a 20 - 30 minute walk away. If you get wet (which we did) Charles was on hand to put all our gear in the drying room overnight.Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, too much to list, go see for yourselves.Thanx Becci n Charles (even for the headache new years day, ha !) See you soon. Only warning I would give; if you normally do Blackpool or Ibiza, think totally opposite.(try it ! )

Room Tip: Only 2 rooms for hire so book early and don't turn up on the day for a room, you'll probably find them full. Gorgeous shower, hot water aplenty, lovely warm room with flat screen tv.

Just back from a fabulous weekend in the Dales - Charles and Becci at The George were excellent hosts - the accommodation extremely comfortable (the shower was great) and the pub full of character with great food and beer. The locals in the pub were all so friendly too - made us feel really welcome. Can't wait to go back!

We stayed two nights in this archetypal Dales village. The pub itself is the epitome of an unspoilt country pub serving hearty pub fayre, perfect after a long walk on the hills. The room had all we needed, even down to a decanter of sherry! Great shower- all clean and well serviced. It's the sort of place you could stay at any time of the year and be guaranteed a warm welcome
