We stayed three nights at Nes Gard on a driving holiday through fjord Norway. We stayed in one of the apartments with two bedrooms, a bathroom and a wonderfully comfortable living/dining/kitchen. Perhaps our only regret is that there was so much to see in and around the guesthouse, we had very little time to relax in the apartment itself. Asbjorn is a wonderful host (even fitted us out with hiking boots from his shed!). We enjoyed excellent dinners in the dining room each night - the setting is unbelievable with views over a small church, across the fjord to the falls. Our entire stay was a highlight of our month travelling and we are already planning a return trip.

Nes Gard has to be the best place to stay in Norway if you're into seeing the fjords, climb glaciers and be one with nature!! The hosts were amazing they had so much knowledge on where to go hiking, they even gave us keys to one of their cabins up in the mountains which was the size of a small house! it was a great experience!!

Nes Gard isn't really a B&B it's more of a hotel even though they tell when u when u arrive that they are not a hotel!! My advise is to book in for the bed breakfast and dinner as the food is seriously delicious!! You get a three course meal which any top class restaurant would be proud to serve up!! Our room was small but really quaint and to balance it off we had a fabulous bathroom. There is a lovely sitting room you can relax in after a days sightseeing, a garden overlooking the fiord where we had a drink every evening before the dinner. They serve wine and beer so you don't need to bring your own!! The dinning room is really lovely in design and seats around 25 people whom you get to join for dinner and share your stories!

My advise to anyone who reads this is stay at least 4 days to make the experience worth while! Fabulous fabulous fabulous is all I can say!!!

We'll be back!!

We are a group of avid hikers (21) who stayed there for 4 nights. It was a wonderful experience. Our host is extremely knowledgable about local hikes and drove us in his van to the various places and led us on our hikes. He is enthusiastic and great to work with. On rainy days, he provided a "cultural experience" of local churches, museums, etc. The food was a delicious surprise - gourmet quality both in presentation and taste - not what one expects at a lodge focused on outdoor activities. It is a converted house and barn, so room quality varies widely - from spacious to tiny, so best to be clear on what your needs are when you book.

Wow where do we start...? Well we first arrived to Nes Gard on the most beautiful sunny and was greeted by such warm friendly hosts. We were lucky enough to upgrade to the honeymoon suite which was just gorgeous. We had our own balcony which we had a few lonely meals on. I can't stress how beautiful this place is .....we are even considering having our wedding there... The owners Asbjorn and Marie and the manager (my apologises we can't remember his name) were just delightful, and very helpful and the food was fantasitc....definatelt worth the full board....we will cherish our stay at Nes Gard for ever.

Nes Gard is an old farmhouse transformed into a charming inn. The owners have tastefully furnished it with furnitures from the late 1800s. I stayed in a newly renovated room a few steps away from the main building. Small, but had everything I needed during my six nights there. The heated bathroom floor was an added bonus when it was wet and cold outside! I didn't have direct wireless Internet access from my room, which didn't bother me since my main purpose was to hike the miles of trails in the area. But all I had to do was wander over to the main building where free wireless Internet access is available.

My favorite part of the trip was relaxing in front of the fireplace, or in the garden when sunny, savoring a glass of wine of beer, after a long day's hike. You have a marvelous view of the Feigumfoss waterfall, which looked different everyday! I also looked forward to the three course dinners prepared by a very talented young chef. Every morning, I would start to wonder what we would be having for dinner!

I stayed at Nes Gard as part of an Adventure Holiday via Exodus. Asbjorn is an amazing guide who knows the trails in the area like the back of his hands. Because of this, we got the best out of our days there, hiking to peaks for fabulous views before afternoon showers, or along beautiful valleys during rainless days on trails which were otherwise a little treacherous when wet. Really had a great stay at Nes Gard!

We sadly only stayed one night at the Nes Gard, but if our trip would have allowed it, we would have loved to extend for a week! What a great little, adorable hotel run by the nicest and most helpful hosts. This bed and breakfast has all of the charm, class, and gourmet food that we were looking for on our honeymoon trip and we highly recommend it for others. It is hard to decide what part of our stay was the best, but I think nothing compares to the kindness and attentiveness of our hosts. You need a suggestion for an afternoon hike? They will gladly draw you a little map of the best hikes in the area. You need a suggestion on where to go for a day trip drive? They will gladly draw you a map and point out all the scenic sights along the way. To steal the words of a previous reviewer, this stay was truly "idyllic in every aspect."

From our arrival late in the evening to our departure, our host could not have been more hospitable, which included providing a delicious plate of food after the kitchen had officially closed. Beautiful clean room, breathtaking views, fabulous cuisine and a willingness to provide itinerary advice/information. I would highly recommend Nes Gard.
