Simply the best. The only place where to stay on this side of the Sicilian coast (south east). Food and wine are served by a couple of young guys and the mom of one of them is the incredible cooker of amazing dishes. A gorgeous experience facing the sea.

We stopped at Sand on the first day in Punta secca. we let the staff advice us on the food and it was absolutely amazing. we went back two days later, the sword fish (Spada) with fenel and orange was absolutely divine, a must try.
the staff was knowledgeable and polite.
I would definitely recommend.

I read some bad reviews for this restaurant, and they are all completely untrue. The reviews all say that the best feature of this restaurant is the location but in reality the best feature is the food! When we saw the interior of the restaurant we thought that it would be very expensive to eat there but it had amazingly low prices and the food was excellent; the best we have ever eaten. My family and I stayed in Punta Secca for three days and we ended up eating there every night after trying it once. My husband and I tried the "degustazione" which features almost 15 different types of fish and everything was fresh and delicious. My daughter tried the ravioli stuffed with cernia in a butter and sage sauce and she swore it was the best ravioli she had on our entire 16 day trip in Sicily. The owner, Danilo, was our waiter and he was extremely knowledgeable about how all the dishes were prepared and he was charming to say the least. He answered all of our questions and helped us make the perfect choices. The wine and desserts were top notch and cheap. Punta Secca itself is not much of a tourist attraction but I would go there just to eat at this restaurant.

We stayed at Casa di Montalbano in Punta Secca and Laura recommended Sand Design. Only on a second visit did Danielo tell us that he is "Adalina", Montalbano's housekeeper. That is, he produces the foods Montalbano relishes on the series. In fact we had recently seen him in the "Angelina's Smile" episode. Even if you are not a Montalbano's fan Sand Design is not to be missed. The food is superb. We had pastas and local fish, each one prepared freshly and innovatively. In general Italian wines have too robust a finish for my tastes, but the Kale Nero d'Avola produced by Danielo is most refined. I can recommend it without reservation. For all the pleasures of the food, the wines, and the atmosphere (Sand Design is a trianglular building of glasswith tableware and furnishings from Italy's most avant garde designers), it is the charming friendliness and warmth of the staff that really excels.

Modern bar-restaurant right on the seafront in Punta Secca. Had a light Sunday lunch here - take your time, this isn't fast food. The marinated (raw) prawns were excellent, and the 'prawn cocktail' a completely different twist. Had plenty of sea breeze, and lingered over scrumptious desserts & coffee.
