“Great location and beach”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

Stevenson's is located on a safe beach which (unlike the resorts a bit further along the coast) can be snorkelled at low tide. Although the coral has been severely damaged by the cyclone, there are clear signs of regrowth and there are plenty of fish to see. We stayed in a Euro Fale which provides the full experience of staying in a traditional fale (with palm blinds for privacy) but with an ensuite toilet and shower (hot water), built out of lava rock. You are so close to the sea that you can see the ocean lapping at the beach right from your bed. Great to wake up to in the morning. The food is excellent by Samoan standards, especially the breakfasts, served in a very impressive and beautiful fale. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and Megan, the deputy manager, is always on hand and regularly checks that everything is ok, making sure any problems are sorted out right away. This was the best place we stayed in Samoa and I would happily come back and stay in a Euro Fale again.

We had booked a Eurofale & a beach villa for our family stay but on arrival were given a free upgrade to two suites (Joshua & Jasmine). This was great for my mum who is a bit older and really appreciated the AC. Rooms were lovely, with funky decor and lava rock shower. The best part was stepping out the door to a safe lagoon for swimming & snorkelling, or taking the outrigger canoe for a spin. Watching the sunset from the porch = magic. Restaurant was great value & the traditional umu-cooked food & fiafia night was delightful. Many thanks to Megan, the duty manager who went out of her way to make our stay memorable - just what a hostess should be. Would love to come back some day.

We booked through our travel agent and then read some of the earlier reviews and thought "uh oh" but this place has obviously lifted its game. We had originally booked a fale and stayed one night there but decided it wasn't for us and upgraded to the Villas (Jasmine). This was excellent. The restaurant meals were pretty good- they do the fish best. Staff were friendly and obliging. This is pretty much a blob out place with access to a good beach and lots of fish to see if you snorkel in the lagoon.

Room Tip: Go for the villas.

Like many others, due to the number of bad reviews, I was concerned that we had made a mistake in booking at Stevensons. How wrong we were!!
We stayed in one of the euro fales with ensuite... even hot water....and loved it.
The position was great, the staff friendly and the continental brekkie was lovely..... substantial fruit platter with either toast or amazing pancakes. You can order and pay for eggs..... highly recommend the omelettes.
Derek and Megan(a little dynamo) are doing a fantastic job to improve Stevensons and take any suggestions on board in a positive and active way.
We stayed for 4 nights and would have no hesitation in recommending it to others.

Room Tip: Loved the euro fales.

We didn't have high expectations after reading previous reviews, but we were very pleasantly surprised, we stayed in the Jasmine Suite which was very comfortable and well equipped with Air con, stunning bathroom, Fridge, superb views over looking the beach and about a 10m walk to the beach! The resort was quiet and best part was the very accommodating and helpful staff. Megan and Derek were fantastic and really made an effort right from the start, nothing was too much trouble. They are on a mission to make their already excellent resort even better. Looking to put in a swimming pool and always encouraging staff to improve service. Its important to note this is not a 5 star resort, if you want this you need to go to Aggie Greys where you will be one of 200 people and prices will be double, music will be blaring out like it was when we spent the final day there. Samoa is still a new destination as far as tourism goes, for us it was the perfect, peaceful relaxed break away. Snorkeling was great too, pristine waters saw turtles within a minute of getting in the water, right in front of the villas!

Room Tip: Suites are the best

We stayed at Stevensons at Manase for six days - it was Paradise in the Pacific.
The accommodation we had was a lovely beachside villa - admittedly these villas are in need of an upgrade - but were roomy, had a wonderful "verandah" within an arms length of steps down to the white sand beach. An outside shower worked well for us - remember you are in Samoa! We would have loved to have had a "clothes line" out the back to dry towels and clothing.
The beach was truly beautiful - pristine sand, clean water and snorkelling to your hearts content. Even on a busy day you would have been lucky to count 20 people on the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the meals were excellent and although facilities were limited our needs were largely catered for. It would have been great to have had access to paddle boards, and perhaps the use of the kayaks could have been free of charge!

Room Tip: Beachside villas were basic and upgrading is imperative and on the resort's agenda for this year...

If you have come to Samoa to experience the incredible geography and natural wonders , this is a wonderful place to stay. the beach is perfect and you can swim at low tide. We are staying in a beach villa which is spacious and has great decorative touches. I like the outdoor showers and the fact we are a few steps from the sea.The food in the restaurant is very enjoyable and the fruit, toast and pancakes for breakfast is great. The beach bar is a lovely spot to enjoy a beer or cocktail, the restaurant is an impressive room and the staff are very pleasant. A staff member Megan has been most helpful with maps and tips for exploring the island ( oh the waterfall swimming at Afu A Au Falls must be the most beautiful swimming place in the world) and car rental was easily organised. Wonderful tropical fish, turtles and incredible blue water are standard. Great gusts of rain turn to blue skies in 15 minutes. Minor hiccups in communication never matter in the end . We spent a week in another resort on Upolu but I like it much better here. I would love to return.

Room Tip: Beach villas are great. Outdoor cold shower is lovely . Not really fancy but spacious and good. Quie...
