If you have come to Samoa to experience the incredible geography and natural wonders , this is a wonderful place to stay. the beach is perfect and you can swim at low tide. We are staying in a beach villa which is spacious and has great decorative touches. I like the outdoor showers and the fact we are a few steps from the sea.The food in the restaurant is very enjoyable and the fruit, toast and pancakes for breakfast is great. The beach bar is a lovely spot to enjoy a beer or cocktail, the restaurant is an impressive room and the staff are very pleasant. A staff member Megan has been most helpful with maps and tips for exploring the island ( oh the waterfall swimming at Afu A Au Falls must be the most beautiful swimming place in the world) and car rental was easily organised. Wonderful tropical fish, turtles and incredible blue water are standard. Great gusts of rain turn to blue skies in 15 minutes. Minor hiccups in communication never matter in the end . We spent a week in another resort on Upolu but I like it much better here. I would love to return.

Room Tip: Beach villas are great. Outdoor cold shower is lovely . Not really fancy but spacious and good. Quie...

The 4 nights we had in a Euro Fale were magic!! We stayed in the last fale (Valima) which gave us a real sense of privacy. The experience of living like a 'Samoan' was fantastic and the kids loved sleeping in the open just a short step onto the golden sand. Even the cold showers didn't bother us but do remember your insect repellant the mozzies are everywhere!!
The staff were welcoming and the food impeccable, the kids especially loved the pancakes.
The Fia Fia night was fantastic - it was great to see the umu being prepared and the dancing was beautiful.
We loved our four days here - the sunsets were gorgeous and the sea was crystal clear and warm. Although after 4 days we were hanging out for a warm shower!

I have just spent 4 days at Stevenson's Beach Resort , Euro Fale on the beach front was comfortable and clean. swimming on the best beach in Manase , the crystal clear water which was 29 degrees C , and the evenings watching the sun set from the beach bar - stunning . The meals were great , we will be back. Big thankyou to the staff at Stevensons

I spent 6 days in the Euro Fales in June 2014. This suited the swimming, relaxing, book reading holiday I was looking for. There was a hiccup with the sewage on the first day and I was transferred to a new Fale (and the problem being fixed). The water in the shower was hot.
This style of Fale is like Glamping and having your own toilet and shower was a real bonus.
The servicing of the the Fale and cleanliness could be improved. I needed to ask for the rubbish bin to be emptied on the third day. The mats in the ensuite were dirty on arrival.
The staff are still in going training and were pleasant and helpful.
The food was very good and the bread and toast for breakfast was scrummy. Apparently they do not use preservatives. The Umu on Wednesday night is well worth attending and the show afterwards entertaining.
Occasionally they ran out of things such as coffee, wifi data cards and the like! I am sure Derek the new manager will improve this level of service. While I was there they installed more spots to access wifi.
The beach bar could use a bit more atmosphere with Samoan music and encouragement to be there to meet up with other guests. Perhaps a happy hour would be worth thinking about.
All in all an enjoyable stay and the highlight was the beach and the ability to swim at any time of the day no matter what the tide was doing.

This is the place for a real holiday. I keep coming back for the locals, position, friendly service and fair prices. Various 'types' of accommodation available: my favourite is a unit on the beach front - literally 10 steps from door to water. Safe, clean, and unbelievably friendly.

Room Tip: Possibly negotiate a package (accommodation, meals).

Just had 4 days at Stevenson Manase Hotel. Many thanks to Derek and his wonderful staff for making our stay so awesome. This hotel is what Samoa is about, Simple, Special, not pretentious, beautiful settting, kind helpful staff. We up graded to a suite from an open fale, as I struggled with the heat, but nothing was too much trouble for Derek. The gardens are gorgeous and I understand there are more plans afoot to add a pool etc. Our meals and bar experience were top notch, as was the Samoan evening of entertainment, right down to the Octopus on the umu. Very sad to leave, but......like arnie, We will be back one day !!

Room Tip: If you cant handle the heat, choose an indoor room.

Despite the management changing (again!!) during our stay, we had no problems at that level - both manager's were helpful and friendly. An issue re the bill (we had been put in a different room type than we booked) was settled quickly and professionally.

The staff, however, lack motivation and are often disinterested in their work and the guests. As an example, one day, as we went to order lunch, we were told that the kitchen had closed until 3pm so no food. The manager quickly 're-opened' it; the staff simply didn't want to bother serving.

The location is delightful, sitting on a nice, if small, beach with coral directly off shore. Lovely to be able to go for a swim first thing in the morning or a snorkel any time (except a tlow tide).
Unfortunately, the owners have crammed the accommodation in and have no restrictions on occupancy. Our first two nights were lovely (except for the mossies) - the 'euro fale's are open and the safe didn't work but we felt no security issues. However a large group of teenagers moved into the fales either side of us for the last two days, cramming 4-5 into rooms built for 2. Loud yells to each other across/through our fale (open walls, no windows remember), tinny radio drowning the lapping of waves and laundry drying on the cables attached to our fale changed our romantic getaway into an Auckland caravan park.

As it is, it's hard to rate the resort: If occupants per room were limited and staff motivated, I'd think about 4 stars but our last two days were - especially when paying as much as a 4-star hotel in NZ - only 2 stars at best so I've settled on 3...

Lunch down the road (40 mins walk, 10 min taxi) at the pizzeria was a highlight! Pizza can be preceded by a snorkel dive trip (next door) which we really enjoyed and/or cocktails afterwards at the resort across the road.

Room Tip: I'd say the self-contained villas are probably quieter and more comfortable (less mosses) but, f...
