“Luxury it certainly is”
Reviewed April 24, 2014 via mobile

We stayed in one of the deluxe luxury apartments and it certainly was luxurious and of course we were very fortunate to have such lovely weather which meant we were able to make good use of our very large balcony. The apartment was extremely spacious and had everything we needed (a wine cooler would be good especially if you are out on the balcony and want to keep your wine chilled!). The views over the marina and the loch are superb. There is plenty to do in the area if you want to leave your lovely apartment. Will definitely be returning.

You must try the food in the Lodge just behind the marina, the food and service is excellent, very airy roomy lovely atmosphere. We've eaten here a few times as food served all day, would highly recommend it.

Dear eastkyler,

Thanks so much for such a great review of the Lodge Kitchen and Bar. As you say all day dining from midday during the season means you can enjoy at your leisure.

We hope to welcome you back again soon.

I have passed through Portavadie marina before to get the ferry to Tarbert at the head of the Kintyre peninsula but have never stayed. I will most certainly be back with family and friends. I stayed for 2 nights this week in cottage number 5 which was lovely, set directly across the water from the main marina buildings. A 3-5 minute walk had you at the lodge or the marina bar and restaurant. There was no wi-fi apart from in the lodge but that was really quite nice and meant we had a totally relaxing stay, making conversation with each other, and not constantly checking social network sites.
The friends I stayed with ate in the lodge the first night (they stayed an extra night). we used the more than adequate cottage facilities on night 2 and ate (definitely book) in the marina on night 3.
Lovely cocktails, food and wine and the sunshine that we requested meant we felt like we were on the continent. The only thing missing was a couple of sunloungers but who would have thought it in April on the West Coast of Scotland? I can't wait for our next stay and look forward to seeing the new swimming pools when they are built. A wonderful relaxing stay with amazing views to enjoy your morning coffee or pre dinner drink. I look forward to my next stay.

What a fair trek to find this beautiful marina hidden behind the scenic valleys! We browsed at the shops and had a nice sea food dinner at the restaurant. The place is clean and the staff are friendly.

I was recommended the Marina from a work colleague and I can not thank them enough for introducing this beautiful little gem! I booked one of the 2 bedroom luxury apartments as a surprise for my mum and dad...and I ended up tagging along anyway haha :)

The views as you drive to the Marina are simply stunning, but as many have said don't panic when you hit the single track road....the Marina is at the end...promise.

Check in was as expected, fine. Very informative and also advised to book for a meal, which we are so glad we did. We stayed in apartment number 7...I think, it might have been 10...but it was the lower apartment right at the very end of the boardwalk and all I can say is wow! Being right on the end, the views to the Loch are gorgeous. My mum also doesn't cope with stairs very well, so the lower ground was perfect :)

As soon as you walk in you just get that total luxury feel about the place. Sauna was a bonus :) The whole place was spotlessly clean. Nice surprise of milk in the fridge so we could make a cuppa after our very long drive.

As we had booked dinner in the main restaurant we took the short walk along the boardwalk. We were not disappointed. Not only was the food excellent, but the service from the staff was outstanding...our particular server was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the area. I don't think we will ever see the size of fish my dad ordered ever again, it was massive!

As the apartment has a well stocked kitchen, we stayed in on our second night and used the facilities. And our 3rd night we dined in the Lodge Kitchen...which was equally as nice food, just with a more relaxed feeling (if its busy, which it was, you might be asked to share a table) - must say lovely open wood fire, perfect for chilling out.

Again as many have said there is not much to do, but in all fairness the walks and if you take the bikes like we did then thats all you really need. And like any woman, there is a shop, which is stocked to the brim with loads of goodies. The new leisure and spa that is being built will be a welcomed addition to this wonderful place.

Our 3 day stay wasn't enough...we would have stayed forever. Just a beautiful, luxurious hide away that I can not recommend enough.

Room Tip: As I said...the last apartment at the end of the boardwalk...either lower or upper :)

My partner and i stayed here for 2 nights on a voucher break.
Its right at the very bottom of Loch Fyne and from Glasgow the best way to get there is the ferry from Gourock to Hunters Quay in Dunoon. The drive from Dunoon is beautiful. There is a fair stretch of single track road although as there are plenty of passing places its not a problem.
Portavadie is a great place to relax and take in the wonderful views. We ate in the lodge the first night and the meal was ok, the second night we ate in the Marina and the food was very good.
The shop is well worth visiting with a great variety of clothing, local crafts, jewelry, children's section and you can also buy essentials and food.
We took the ferry over to East Tarbert, (it docks in about a minutes walk from the Lodge) and well worth a visit.
If you are an active person there are walking and cycling routes.
There is also a Spa which we did not use and the complex is being extended to include an outdoor and indoor pool, gym, cafe. Building was going on while we were there and as with all building works there was some disruption mainly from large diggers passing up and down the road outside the Lodge.
The room was fabulous with views over to Tarbert on one side and the hills on the other.
It was very spacious with a huge comfy bed and a sitting area. I liked the separate toilet and along with the shower/bath room were very well appointed.
Its a great place to relax enjoy the scenery and visit the surrounding villages. Also if you like boats the Marina is a great place to drool over the boats moored there.
I would certainly recommend it for a short break

Room Tip: Room 6 was very spacious and had great views. However, if you have difficulty with stairs the rooms...
