An all round perfect holiday
We had a wonderful week here with the family. The weather was very hot, and we were grateful for the air-con in the living area and the fans in the bedrooms, but we spent most of our waking hours outside, where there were places in sun or shade at all times of the day. The large, warm, sparklingly clean salt-water pool and the stupendous views North to Bergerac, are the outstanding features of this villa.
The approach via automatic doors makes it secure and safe, with parking for several cars. The house itself is spotless and well-equipped, plenty of room for 8 guests. Nearby Bergerac and Monbazillac are lovely, the bakery next door is very handy, and Philippe's restaurant is excellent. We enjoyed sampling wines at the local vineyards (one is walking distance!) and eating at the Gourmand Night Market at Eymet, a great experience.
Thanks to Philippe, his wife, and staff for making this such special holiday.
Very good location - near to Bergerac and all amenities. Neighbouring restaurant and bakery were an added bonus.
The property was well maintained and very comfortable. The Air Conditioning in the living room was particularly welcome with temperatures of 30C to 35C.
The large pool and outside area were great.
House was fully equipped for all our needs.
We look forward to a future visit.
Perfect well appointed 4 bed-roomed Gite with glorious large heated salt water pool. The views from the property are stunning and the pool surrounded by fabulous rose bushes. The house is well equipped with two bathrooms and 3 toilets. Rooms are large and well ventilated with fans provided. Downstairs in living area there is air conditioning.
The Gite spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The owner Philippe is charming and his only wish seems to be to ensure that his guests have a good holiday - nothing is too much trouble for him. Philippe also runs the excellent La Grappe D'Or restaurant opposite the Gite which serves local dishes specialising in all things Duck.
Next door to Gite is a wonderful Boulangerie that is open from early to late every day and sells excellent bread and patisseries.
All in all a fantastic place to stay and we cannot recommend it more highly.
Had a wonderful week in this charming house with basically everything we needed. Could be better if there's ensuite bathroom and sound proof better between floors. The view is fantastic though pity blocked by some trees.
Enjoyed the comfortably heated pool very much. The owners are nice and helpful.
Firstly on a practical note - I searched in vain (maybe I just missed it?) for a description of the layout of this house - as we were two families travelling with grown up offspring this was quite important. In fact it worked very well for us but as information for others - here goes. The front door opens onto the top floor of the house where there are three bedrooms, 2 toilets and a bathroom with large jacuzzi bath and shower attachment. Two of the bedrooms overlook the valley and the garden - others have spoken of the view and we were not disappointed, it really is beautiful. The garden is extensive (but steep) and we saw loads of rabbits and birdlife, but were also fascinated by the activities of 2 red squirrels who ran up and down the big tree but then disappeared whenever we tried to point them out!
Downstairs then to a very well equipped kitchen/sitting room, off which there is a utility room - washer/dryer/dishwasher/freezer and second fridge. Also downstairs, the fourth bedroom, and a bathroom with corner bath, separate loo and walk in shower. Oh, and a sauna - and even though the weather was mixed during our say, we weren't tempted by the sauna! The sitting room doors open onto the pool area as shown in the photos. There was plenty of room for 7 of us and my worry that the earlier risers might wake the downstairs sleepers was unfounded! The facilities are just as described; the boulangerie must be the nearest we have ever experienced and the long opening hours were ideal. Philippe was a great host - he was there if needed but unobtrusive and very helpful. We visited his restaurant one evening and he and his staff were brilliant, coping without complaint with a last minute delay caused by the need to return a hire car (one of the grown up offspring!) and providing cheerful and prompt service, and lovely food - as a family we must have tried nearly everything on the menu and it was all great.
In summary then, we had an excellent week and I would definitely recommend the area and the property. A tiny gripe/suggestion for an even better experience - the plastic sunbeds are not the most comfortable - there were two non-plastic ones which were much better so we took it in turns to sit on those! I'm also not sure how we would have coped if the weather had been really hot as the only shade is over the dining table outside (no umbrellas, unless Philippe just didn't think we needed them last week?). But those comments shouldn't detract from all the very good things about this place - certainly one of the best properties we have rented in our many French and Italian holidays as a joint family group since 1997!
