Lovely heated pool and the views over bergerac were 100% fantastic.
Good sized accommodation with well equipped kitchen and nice clean beds.
More difficult than expected with young children, 5 year old fine, 2.5 year old struggled with lots of steps and stairs, so we would say really 3 years+ (or have a stair gate).
car 110% needed, but that's obvious given the view down to bergerac.
Views make it worth while, amazing food served by Phillipe from the restaurant over the road, great bakery for breakfast, some treats and a few essentials, otherwise a good supermarket 5km away.
Gite is connected by the driveway, therefore not a completely private villa but wasn't a problem whilst we were there, nice covered parking at the far end of the driveway next to the gite.
Would have been nice for more than the sweet wine in the fridge, our tip would be to pick up some essentials at a supermarket on the way through bergerac on arrival. However all the bathrooms had lots of shampoo and bubble bath.
Overall a very enjoyable week.

We have just returned from a week at Philippe's villa at Monbazillac, France. The Villa itself is amazing and the view is to die for (much better than in the photo!).
We were lucky to have amazing weather and the outside pool was perfect for lazing around each day and to eat lunch and dinner by.
Bergerac is close by and is a lovely City, plenty to do there, you could visit a couple of times during a week's stay.
The villa is just across the road from Philippe's restaurant, La Grappe D'Or, which was excellent. It is also next door to a boulangerie which was open 7am to 7pm and where you can buy fresh croissant's at a fraction of the cost in the UK. All in all we had an excellent holiday and would not hesitate to visit again.

We stayed at Philippe's villa for a week in Montbazillac, just outside of Bergerac, in June. There were 4 adults and one toddler. The first thing to say is the location of the villa is perfect, beautifully set high above vineyards with an amazing view towards Bergerac which you can see. It is also only 10 minutes drive from Bergerac airport, so transfers are easy.
On arrival at the villa we met Philippe at his restaurant next door. Philippe is a great host and showed us round and explained how everything worked (pool, air con, bathrooms, locks etc). He is always close by if you have any queries, and I would definitely recommend eating at his fabulous restaurant La Grappe d'Or. He was also very help pre arrival answering my queries, and went out of his way to ensure my daughter had a suitable cot to sleep in.
The villa itself is beautiful, with both traditional and modern aspects. It's very spacious and comfortably sleeps 6-8, and there are 3 bathrooms/toilets. The kitchen is well equipped and all areas are very clean. The outdoor area is amazing and where we spent a lot of time by pool, which is heated at 31 degrees all day long.
The area is very rural and peaceful, but Bergerac is only a ten minute drive and other small towns/villages are just a short drive away. There are lots of great vineyards too, we really enjoyed Chateau Montbazillac and it's stunning grounds.
I would certainly recommend this villa to both adult parties and those travelling with children, and we are already looking forward to returning.
Thanks for a wonderful holiday Philippe!

This was our first stay in this area of France and what a treat it proved to be. The property is situated in an on the edge of village (Monbazillac) location in an elevated position on a hill side with breathtaking views of the Bergerac & the Bordeaux countryside.
The house is large with spacious and comfortable accommodation and well equipped plus the added benefit of a large Conservatory, there is also a laundry room.
The 4 double bedrooms & 3 wc’s are arranged on 2 floors.
There is a splendid outdoor pool which is heated and a good size with an automatic electrically operated cover. There is also a covered area to escape the mid-day sun with plenty of chairs, loungers and tables around to have drinks & food at during the day and evenings.
The house also benefits from a separate laundry room, a sauna and car parking for 3 cars.
Highly recommended.
After a long 2 day drive from Derbyshire in England we arrived to be greeted by Philippe and shown around his beautiful home. The house was so spacious, well-equipped and spotlessly clean . Everything we needed was there, with lovely furniture in the bedrooms and a breathtaking view from the 2 bedrooms with small balconies. The large salt water pool was amazing, we spent a large proportion of the day in there at a beautifully warm 30 degrees. The lighting outside at night was magical and our teenage boys loved listening to music from the conservatory music system whilst swimming. The large wet room was another attraction with a sauna to relax in. We had a lovely meal at Philippe's restaurant which was always busy. We loved buying warm croissants and delicious bread from around the corner. The historic part of Bergerac was a delight and we ate there a couple of evenings. Thank you for a perfect holiday.
This is a great house with generously sized bedrooms - lots of storage for all your luggage! It has a lovely swimming pool overlooking vineyards across Monbazillac. The location is very good with the centre of Bergerac being 10 minutes drive away. There is a local boulangerie and a great restaurant La Grappe d'Or.
The property has all the utilities you would need - clothes dryer, dishwasher, cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine. There are some luxuries which we didn't get to use such as the Jacuzzi bath (in the upstairs bathroom) and the sauna (weather was far too hot!). We made good use of the BBQ - perfect al fresco dining by the pool on a balmy evening.
The air conditioning was a blessing downstairs in the beautiful conservatory on the hot days but it would have been great if it was available upstairs during the hot nights. As there was 6 people staying, we felt that we could have done with access to a third bathroom with a shower.
We did have a wonderful week here in time for Bastille Day with a great group of friends and overall, the villa was perfect as it ticked all the boxes for its location and facilities. Would definitely visit again.
Tips:
- You must dine at the La Grappe d'Or. Phillipe who runs this restaurant (the owner of the villa also) is a superb host. A great menu available at reasonable prices. We didn't take advantage of the food delivery service by the pool!
- Bring your own towel for the swimming pool and sauna.
- Do pay a visit to Château de Monbazillac. Beautiful views and great wine.

Arrived late to a welcome by Philippe and a tureen of his "world famous" soup. Very comfy beds and spacious accommodation. We made full use of the large conservatory and outside seating complete with vineyard views. Breakfast was bought fresh each morning at the boulangerie just a few yards away, the fruit tarts are a must. Also just a few yards away is Philippe's restaurant, if you like duck you won't be disappointed. All in all a lovely relaxing place.
