We were recommended to go here by one of the people that worked at Chateau Monbazillac as we wanted somewhere close for lunch. It's right off one of the main roads, though that doesn't mean we found it first time! Our fault unfortunately but it's so pleasant to get lost on these roads that we didn't really mind.
The place itself is not glorious - very nice, but rather charmless plastic patio chairs and an ugly signpost or two directly across from it. There is a nice view from the patio which is a little obscured but you won't mind as you'll be eating!
We went for the set menu which comes with a soup - in description it sounded OK, but when it arrived we found it was amazing. Beans, carrots, potatoes - but absolutly yummy. A huge tureen showed up for two of us and we were nowhere near finishing it before we stopped so that we didn't ruin our appetites.
Then we had a bloc de foie gras - not the foie gras mi-cuit which had a small supplement. This was an exceedingly generous portion of foie gras with a little onion jam, which went down very well with a small bottle of the local Monbazillac wine. They had a varied and reasonable wine selection;including the small 50cl bottles which are great if there are only 2 of you and one is driving.
We then shared the "Gros Magret de Canard" which was for 2 people - duck breast done absolutely beautifully with an amazing and light sauce. This came with another huge tureen of potatoes simply sliced and roasted with some herbs. At this point we were too full to eat the cheese and patisseries which were included in the 26 Euro lunch!
Service was definitely slow - another reason we chose to forgo a 3rd course as we did rather want to get on with our day. However we weren't in a real hurry and every course was worth the wait. The staff were nice (if not super efficient), polite, and the restrooms were about what you could hope for in France - available, clean and functional. They were, of course, unisex but there it is.
So we recommend this place (I bet it would do a delicious dinner as well) but don't be in a hurry and have the Prix Fixe!
