I often visit Phayao and 'The Gateway Hotel' is still the best option for visitors to here, despite it beginning to show its age a little.

Being a building of ten floors, the rooms offer wonderful views across the town and lake. The bedrooms are spacious with king size beds and a seating area, fully stocked mini-bar, cable television and air conditioning. They have en-suite bathrooms with proper bathtubs, as well as showers.
The Gateway has an in-house massage facility, which can be had either in a massage room or in your bedroom. It also has a karaoke bar, a pool room, and Phayao’s best nightclub, ‘Hollywood’ attached to the premises.
Don’t anyone worry about noise from the club; I am a light sleeper, but slept soundly and didn’t hear a thing.
I am surprised by earlier comments made about 'The Gateway'. I would like to offer a special word of praise for the staff here, everyone I came into contact with was friendly, efficient, and went about their work with a smile on their face.
Phayao is a town that has a lot to offer, yet doesn’t get too many visitors passing through. I would highly recommend a stay here.More
