Big disappointment! This place has the potential to be something really nice. The view is superbe and the location is beautiful. The goods stop here.
The hotel reservation (in Bangkok) had informed us of an availability of a big Floathouse, that is "new" and nicer than another hotel nearby that we had stayed at last year. We accepted the offer although way overpriced. But it was a busy weekend and it was a gift for the family, so we overlooked the price factor.
Much to our horror, upon arrival, we find rustic décor (think plywood, dark, and dim atmosphere). The towels were paper thin, ragged and ripped. the wooden floor albeit polished was very slippery. there were dead files in all the corners and toppled on the lifejacket corners. we had to ask for all the standards you would expect in any hotel, shower amenites, tissue, glasses etc... We were led to the floathouse but could not access the rooms - they demanded we pay in advance full amount before they give us the keys to the bedrooms.
The driftwood pathway leading to the room had nails hanging up, so look carefully where u step.
The water activities installation (giant inflatable toys, sliders, banana boat, etc... ) are badly maintained as there were parts ripped and missing so it was very difficult to climb up the giant slider for example. The rafting activity was quite hazardous as they were old and not well maintained, We bruised our leg and ankle badly when our foot slipped through the bamboo sticks. The kayaks were dirty and the paddles were torn.
We now understood why they had asked us if we wanted to buy insurance upon checking in.
The food although not too bad and reasonably priced (considering the lack of option nearby), the service was horrible. We waited 45 min for 2 rice bowls, after having all the other food. And this after several phone calls, only to be told that we did not order any rice in the beginning which of course made us quite mad.
Room cleaning terrible or lack of.
We were 5 adults and 5 children. We gullibly paid 15000 baht for 1 night, thinking we would have an enjoyable stay. Neither the room nor the water activity (that we came for) was satisfactory. I felt ripped off and sad to disappoint my family in choosing this place.
I would really like to warn future travellers to think carefully before coming here. I am Thai and don't quite understand why this place got good reviews from other Thai travellers. Feel free to contact me for queries as I know there is little English reviews about this place.
