Wow! This hotel is mind blowing! The entire hotel is made of rich woods and rope details. It looks just like the website and well maintained! The hotel staff is amazing too! They are so helpful and welcoming! We went for our honeymoon and did not have any excursions planned but the hotel was so helpful to arrange excursions or they guided us themselves. It was an amazing trip! The hotel is very secluded so be ready for some rest & relaxation! The hotel prices were very reasonable. Everyday we jumped off our dock & floated to the nearby beach. So much fun but a little scary at first cause the river is pretty fast.

We decided to have a long vacation in Thailand and wanted to explore Kanchanaburi. So, Floathouse was our next destination after Sukhothai. And apparently everything here is more than perfect! We really love how our room was decorated, luxurious but blended with the natural view. The owner would spend huge money on the design and ornaments. And somehow this hotel does totally blow our mind!

We also had the peaceful time reading books near the river for the whole afternoon. Such an amazing place to lay down, relax and felt in love with.

The food was fantastic. We recommend you to try some Thai food here, very tasteful. The staff could speak English very well. And most of them were really helpful.

Would definitely come back here again!

Do not hesitate, book this immediately. It was by far the highlight of my trip. The location was beyond serene, the floating villa magical and food excellent and well priced. My only advice would be to ask for a villa far from the restaurant as I'm assuming you'd want to hear the water flowing beneath your feet and enjoy a good book in absolute peace & quiet. The music was strange at the restaurant (YMCA etc), but we laughed it off. To explain, the restaurant is in the center of the property with 6 villas floating on either side. My villa was at the far end on the right and was absolute bliss. If my pictures don't convince you, nothing will. I wouldn't stay for less than 2 nights. In my opnion 3 nights would be perfect. We ventured to the River Kwai from Bangkok and boarded the Death Train along the way. It was perfect. I should also say, I'm a city girl, never been camping in my life; this experience, solitude in the middle of the jungle was inspiring. I'll never forget it.

+ resort and its facilities
+ fantastic massage
+ good food

- only a few staff members are english speaking
- organisation (see below)
- very expensive transfer (see below / we recommend all travellers to book a transfer through an independent travel agency in advance to save a huge amount of money)

Let's start with the positive aspects of our stay at this hotel. We were quite impressed about the hotel and its facilities. The rooms are very clean, spacious and from our point of view luxurious. As the name of the hotel already indicates the hotel is flowing on the river. Of course you can hear and feel the river all the time. We really liked that and it is something special. Except of the longtailboats the location is quiet and remote, perfect to relax. The in-room Thai Massage is a must, the whole staff is very friendly and the food at the restaurant is good. Unfortunately there were also some disappointments during our stay.

- The day we arrived at the hotel we were told that the hotel is fully booked and we were kindly asked to already choose our dinner and the time we will be at the restaurant to give the kitchen enough time to prepare. We did as we were asked and placed our order and the dinner time to the staff. As we arrived at the restaurant later we firstly received the menues. The employee didn't understand that we had already ordered our dinner in the early afternoon. After sorting this out with an english speaking staff member we were told that our dinner will be served soon. Unfortunately they then served the wrong courses twice before we decided to eat the served course although it wasn't what we ordered.

- We booked a tour to the Erawan Waterfalls. We were accompanied by a staff member of the hotel. It was a pity that he couldn't tell us something about the sight nor the tour because he could speak just a few english words. At least we saw the waterfalls and thanks to our lonely planet travel guide got some background information about this place.

- We had a private taxi transfer from downtown Bangkok to the pier of The Floathouse River Kwai for THB 2'800. We didn't organise a transfer back to Bangkok. Once at the resort we asked for the transfer back to Bangkok. We got the information that there is only a van available which would cost THB 4'500! We asked for a discount or another option because it doesn't make any sense to take a 10-seat van for the transfer of two persons (also from a ecological point of view). But the staff told us, that there is no other possibility than booking the van what we finally did. Funny thing at the end: Our driver - who couldn't speak one english word - stopped shortly after the starting point to pick up a local girl. So at least she had a free trip to the capital. ;-)

We just spent 3 days/2 nights at this perfect boutique hotel and wish we could have stayed longer. Truly unique, with all the right details; DVD player, good hot outdoor showers, incredibly helpful staff, so many places to curl up and read - and being able to jump into he river from your own balcony/pier!

This resort is very romantic, but they went out of their way to make our family with three boys feel welcome. Our younger son had his 6 birthday there and they even arranged a cake for him. We loved it so much that we are looking forward to returning in April with more family!

Room Tip: No bad rooms!

This hotel is amazing and it is certainly obvious why it is currently the number one hotel in Kanachanaburi at the moment. To wake up to the sun rising on a misty river then to sit on our balcony, toes over the river watching the world go by is truly a once in a lifetime experience. It was not easy to get here but it has been well worth the train, taxi and boat from Bangkok. The hotel is in a great location for many of the areas attractions as well. The service has been immaculate, in particular a young man in the restaurant was very helpful with organizing activities and giving us information on the local area and local people. The food was great but as we had a room where meals were included ("full board") it would have been nice to choose what we like to eat, so I would suggest having a "half board" room. One particular highlight was jumping from the hotel into the river and swimming downstream. There are not many hotels in the world where you could say you have jumped off.

Amazing rooms, amazing resort. Food good. Everything very clean. Staff very nice. Such a unique experience with the whole resort floating on a river. Only complaint is they over charge for activities and drivers and there is no alternative option so you have to pay large amount. Price back to kanchanaburi was 3x the amount we paid a local taxi to take us to the resort. The driver only gets a wage from the resort, so the resort pockets the extra money. If I'm going to pay that much I'd rather the money go to the locals not the resort owner.
