“An interesting stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 12, 2012

We stayed as part of our Limestone Lakes Tour and although I highly recommend Limestone Lakes our stay here was only average.

We stayed in the birds nest treehouse which was nice and just what we were expecting - but be warned if you want luxury this place is not for you. There will be ants and spiders in your bathroom - not a complaint as we were in the jungle and this is to be expected - but again just a warning for those who cannot cope with this type of thing.

The restaurant was interesting as it was staffed by a group of young thai girls who were very sweet and charming but unfortunatley could not speak a word of English and didn't seem to read thai when you pointed at the menu (if the menu had thaiu names written in English for you to say it might have helped) . This resulted in a game of roulette at each meal time to see if the food that turned up was actually anything resembling what you had ordered e.g I got sweet and sour shrimp when I had in fact ordered squid and my other half got fried rice with pinapple and cashew when he ordered chicken and cashew. Anyway, we are not fussy so just ate what they brought as it seemed easier than trying to explain. There was also quite a few occasions when food was delivered to the wrong tables - but as i said we are fairly laid back and found this all quite entertaining.

We also did a "jungle hike" with "carl". Although he stopped to point out spiders, iguanas, lizards etc on the way, he didn't bother on teh way back and the hike just consisted of a walk for about 3 km along a fire trail type path and then back again which we found a bit disappointing and we did much better jungle hikes when we went to the lakehouses afterwards.

The main issue with this place I think is that it is on the wrong side of the river. you can paddle through the river to Arts and from there wander down to the main resort fine, but at night we just didn't fancy crossing the river - especially as we were wearing long trousers to protect us from bugs.

Overall we enjoyed our stay there, but I think we would try someone the other side of the river or nearer to the park entrance another time.

Obviously this place isn't just a hotel - if you're looking for a good hotel and a great breakfast, you'll probably find better deals.

We stayed for two nights as part of our tour with Limestone Lake Rainforest tours.

The treehouse is lovely - we had a great view from our terrace and the bathroom was an experience in itself with the rocky floor and the tree going through it. There's a proper toilet (no paper into the toilet), bidet shower, sink and a cold water shower.

The houses are enough apart from each other, so that you can feel "alone in the jungle".

The mosquito net was great - we slept with the window shutters slightly ajar and had bats visit the house at night. There's no glass in the windows, so if the shutters are open, the wildlife can enter. We woke up in the morning to roosters and they do actually start at the break of dawn. Well, we had scheduled programme too, and there was no reason to stay up late anyway - there's not much to do in the jungle after dark.

There's apparently a separate electric pump for water, so sometimes we needed to remind them to turn it on to get the running water. Not so much fun after a day of jungle trekking... One night there were problems with electricity too, so you should bring a flashlight.

The food was included with our stay (breakfast, lunch, dinner). It was quite boring and tasteless, but in no way horrible. There were no vegetarian options on the menu, but you do get them if you ask for them (and at no extra cost). I took tofu at times or just asked them to leave out the meat.

The staff spoke only little or no English, so everything needs repeating, but everyone was friendly apart from the slight cockiness of the manager. He turned out to be alright too, after you got to know him.

The resort is a bit further away from the actual park entrance and the small village before it. You can walk there in about 10-15 minutes, if you find the way. That was a bit hard, because the staff wasn't able to give good instructions. To get there, you need to cross the river (actually on foot across the river, at least we didn't find a bridge), you then walk through another resort 'til you find the road and just follow along that. There will be some minimarts quite soon, but if you walk along and at the end of the road take a left, you'll find the actual village with shops, bars and hotels.

I loved our stay here, but if I'd go to Khao Sok again, I'd check out what other options there are.

We stayed here for 2 nights as part of the Limestone Lake Rainforest Tours. The rooms are clean but basic - a comfortable, though hard, bed with mosquito nets, and an ensuite toilet and "waterfall' shower, room which is really cool as it is literally a tree house.

The kids loved climbing up the (admittedly scary) stairs to the room situated around a large tree. The area around the treehouses is very pleasant with some nice areas for a walk, or a swim in the river. The food was lovely - mainly Thai dishes, but some western dishes, though service was sometimes slow.

The kids loved the massage (we didn't object either) which surprised me with our very active 4 year old boy. We also went on an elephant trek one morning which we all loved.

This is a lovely place to relax for a couple of days with a family.

Room Tip: Do go on the elephant trek in the morning

The location is perfect we have a nice Family Suite on top of tree..nice the monkeys jumping over the top of our treehouse. I enjoy listen the sound of the nature.
The food was so good I'm vegetarian and here I taste the best tofu soup (suggestion from Mrs AER)!!!
From here you can choose your trekking (you can go by walking in the park) and the fistt part you can go by yourself.
Nice the bathroom is without window so you can take a shower in the jungle view!

Part of our tour organised by Limestone Lake Tours. Basic treehouse with a bed, a mosquito net and a fan. Cool bathroom with a shower resembling a waterfall. Lovely setting just into a rainforest area with a river near by. Monkeys and circadas to sing you to sleep. Keep your windows shut overnight as the monkeys do come to visit.

Found out I was overcharged - paid 1200 for a 700 treehouse. Nature resort colluded with our tour guide - a Mr "Noi", long-haired dude who claimed he built the toilets at this Cheat Resort.

Even their food is overpriced - go outside n pay half the prices u paid for here.

Cheaters never prosper.

'nuff said.

First, the hotel is situated outside of the "village" and to get to the village you have to go across the river and then somer ten minutes of walking. It´s OK in daylight, but be sure to bring a flashlight in the evening.

The location is idyllic by the river, with no noise except the jungle serenade and the occasional monkey shreek. Breakfast and lunch is OK but what´s great with this place is the tree houses!

The tree huts are basic, but definately an experience with outdoor bathrooms with waterfall showers (cold water only), and the tree trunk cutting through the hut. Just sitting on the balcony with a cold singha after a day of jungle trekking listening to the sounds of the jungle is a great feeling. Close windows and doors to avoid monkeys ravaging your room!

Mr Tee can arrange everything from transportation to trekking-, elephant- and river tours.

Across the river, halfway to the village is a fantastic bar doing barbecues in the evening and the owner playing guitar and singing by the campfire. Be sure to check it out!

I could not have asked for better accommodation while in Khao Sok.
