We decided to stay at the Nature Resort because of the positive reviews at Tripadvisor, but we obviously should have read the not so good ratings more carefully as we made a similar experience why we finally moved on after a day and stayed at the Riverview Lodge (just a river crossing away).

We booked our room a night before which was confirmed with a pick up at the bus station at 7 pm. We arrived at the bus station and no one was there what was not a big deal as a friendly lady gave them a call. However when we wanted to check in at around 7:20 pm we got told that our room was already taken as they didn’t know if we are showing up, what we found interesting as the pick up time was confirmed. The next excuse was that the couple had not checked out yet therefore the room was still occupied. After some time we got the riverview bungalow for the cheaper fare but had to change room again the next day, which is very inconvenient when you want to start doing a trip.

This was still all acceptable but what in the end really put us off, was the pushiness with doing a tour with them, which was totally overprized, be careful and check some of the others, as well as the overprized food which you can get better and for half the price with just crossing the stream or walking down to the other restaurants.

My partner and I stayed at the nature resort for two nights in the mountain view hut. I must admit, I was a bit apprehensive about staying in the jungle but i am so glad we did, it was an amazing experience.

The staff at the nature resort are so kind and friendly, you couldnt meet nicer people. They dont speak great English. The food was great, home cooked and fresh. The restaurant is lovely, so quiet with great views.

We stayed in the mountain view hut and it was perfect. The views were fantastic. We enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and taking in the stunning views! Our room was spotless, basic of course but it has everything you need. The resort have safes which are at reception.

We went on an elephant trekking tour, not to be missed. We also done tubing down the river, very nice and relaxing. Both good prices.

Overall I would highly recommend staying at the resort if you want to get away from it all and simply be among nature, its perfect. The resort is away from others, quite secluded and private which is great. We had such a relaxing time here and even though we had no air-con we had the best nights sleep since arriving inThailand.

Room Tip: email resort direct, dont go through agent

We spent 2 nights in this lodge and were very pleased with our choice. It was the only place we stayed in during our 3 week trip to Thailand that was full , which speaks for itself.

The lovely Mr Tee and his team / family were utterly charming and could not do enough for their guests, even though there were lots of us and they were very busy. We were picked up after a liveaboard to the Similans and two days lated dropped off in Khao Lak , which was fantastic.

The rooms were so lovely , we had one night in a tree house and another in a smaller unit. Both were spotlessly clean with big comfy beds. Cold water showers were actually really refreshing and the views from the rooms were fantastic.

The food was also excellent and large glasses of ice cold white wine were available at a very reasonable price.

We did a walk , an elephant treck and a canoe trip , all great fum and very reasonably priced.

Not sure how this can be no.1 on tripadvisor! All the other hotels in Khao Sok must be really, really bad or something.
We booked a mountain view tree house 3 months in advance and when we got there, we were put in the Bird Song Tree house which has view of nothing except a patch of open land and a few trees. The room itself was OK but nothing special.
I didn't think Mr Tee or his wife were friendly. The rest of the staff are Burmese are beyond useless. We were served incorrect meals on numerous occasions. Both when ordered in Thai and in English. The food was bland and below standard. They even ran out of rice on the last day. A Thai restaurant running out of rice is like McDonald's running out of buns.
We had to ask about 5 times on the 3rd day for our room to be cleaned.
The food is way overpriced as well. About double what is should cost. At first I thought this was because we were in Khao Sok which is remote, but if you cross the stream and walk 10 mins up the road, you can eat at Nung's House for half the price and the food is delicious. Also Nung is a good source of information. I guess the reason why they over charge on the food is because not many people want to cross a stream every time they want to eat.
We did the Lake Trip which again was nothing special considering the huge price. You just get taken to some huts in the middle of the lake and spend the day there with the option of visiting some caves.
Unless you have some specific reason to visit Khao Sok, there are other places you can go that will get you back to nature but without the travelling distance and the expense. For example, Suratburi is only a few hours drive from Bangkok.

This was definitely one of the highlights of our trip through Thailand. When it gets dark all you hear are the sounds of the jungle, which is an experience by itself.

The waterfall shower was so much fun! The water is ice cold, but you're in the jungle and its hot and sticky ! It was so amazing to be standing between plants and a tree in the bathroom, there's nothing like it!

At night the restaurant at the hotel offers a very welcoming atmosphere. Its like you're living with the family who owns the place. The food is absolutely delicious and they have a wide variety of dishes. We played cards after diner and watched the bat fly in and out, while listening to the sound of the frogs.

There is no daily roomcleaning but there's also not much to clean anyway.
Overall a very good place to stay!!
If you're in for a very special experience, this is the place to go.

(we stayed in the Mountain View Tree House which is the treehouse in the front row with beautiful view over the jungle and the mountains)

We were met at Surat Thani Airport by our driver just as we had arranged 6 months earlier in a cold English winter. From then on service never missed a beat.
The welcome was warm; the food magnificent (best we had in Thailand) and anything could be arranged.
Our boys loved playing in the river; watching the resident troupe of macaques or catching up with facebook in the dining area. We slept longer and deeper than expected in our mosquito netted beds high up in our exquisite tree houses.
We went on the lake tour and elephant trekking trips - both perfectly arranged and Mr Tee was an excellent guide.
We stayed for 5 nights and could have happily stayed on longer. Mr Tee and his wife Aer make you part of their family and provided an amazing banquet on our last night. Did I say the food was good? Well it needs to be repeated :)
Staying here was the best experience of our Thailand vacation and we would love to return sometime. In the meantime we can highly recommend this accommodation. We crossed the river to the village a couple of times and we were always pleased to come 'home' to our perfect jungle location.
