“Warm welcome at fantastic little island”
Reviewed January 7, 2014

We stayed at Bulone Resort for 5 nights in December 2013. Koh Bulone is a very nice island with nice beaches as well as a good walking path to go to other beaches. The owners of the resort are very nice and we felt very welcome. We had a bungalow with a fan, that was what was available when I booked, however if we could we would have opted for a/c. The bungalow itself was "rustique". We liked it, but it is important to remember not to eat anything in the bungalow or leave any type of food there - you will have rats, ants and lizards in there in no time!
The towels and bed linen was a bit too worn out with large holes in them.
The resort has a nice atmosphere, and there was a restaurant where we ate most of the time. Since it was so close to the beach, there were very few mosquitos there as we felt there were on the restaurants further up the hill. This is also where the breakfast was served and it had plenty of choices.
For us, 5 days was the right length of stay.

Just back from a short vacation in Koh Bulon Lae last weekend. Couldn't get much updated information over the net before going but we just had to give this place a try after passing by on our Koh Lipe trip a few years ago.
Speedboat from PakBara Pier to the longtail stop is at THB800/return/pax + THB100/return/pax for the longtail - there is also an option for longtail boat all the way. You would also need to pay THB20/pax upon entering the Jetty. Since we drove from Kuala Lumpur, we parked our car with a fee of THB100/night.
We loved our 2 nights in Family Chalet (2 rooms with 1 queen bed with mosquito netting each + 1 bathroom) in Bulone Resort. As per the previous reviews, the accommodation here on this island has no air-cond, no water heater, electricity runs for a few hours during the day and continuous from 6pm to 6am. The chalet is very spacious, clean and comfortable and with balcony where we lounged for a spectacular beach view. The rate doesn't include breakfast but to us the rate was still quite reasonable. Very friendly place and superfriendly people all over the island.
The island itself is very very beautiful, clean safe beach for the kids (bulone resort side - the other sides are rocky), warm clear turquoise water, during the low tides which started around 5/6 pm the children would be scampering on the beach for entrapped small fishes, small crabs, hermit crabs, playing and making sand castles. We rented a longtail boat for 4/5 hours for some snorkel activities. However, there was nothing much to snorkel about - Koh Lipe has much more to offer on this segment. The corals were dead, not too many big colourful fishes around and the visibility was not that good during our time there, but we had a blast fishing on the longtail instead! Being fishing amateur with only the hook and line (not even a fishing rod) - we still managed to bag quite a lot of fishes during the 2/3 hours of playful fishing- most of them were garoupa. We then took our catch to our dining spot - Pin & Muda to get these cooked for our meals there. For our last dinner there, since so many bbq'ed fishes, we shared those with whomever that comes by for dinner!
We will definitely come again to this island!! Our youngest daughter even made the dad promised to stay for a least 5 days on our next trip or she wouldn't leave! :)

This island is the perfect tropical island, from its beautiful sandy beach to the friendly people.
We stayed in a beach front bungalow, just metres from the beach. We had a hammock slung between two trees to the side of us. To go to bed at night with the sound of the sea and to wake in the morning to lapping waves was just magic. Being a very small island, there is just a few hours of electricity, this is no problem, as it means there is no light pollution. There a few walks across and around the island to a few other resorts, a rubber plantation and a chao le village complete with a very small school and mosque.
The restaurant on Bulone resort is very good as is all the other six or so on the island. There are no roads, just a few motorbikes carrying goods from one side of the island to the other. The main occupation is the villagers is fisherman. A lady called Su has a small bakery run from the kitchen in her house selling Chelsea buns and muffins, and breakfasts etc. which are very good.To eat out at night either on the beach, or nearby in the warm breeze is magical. There are no shops as such just a few items for sale in the resorts. If you want night life then this island is not for you, if you want peace and tranquility, this is a must.

We stayed in a familybungalow with 3 small children and had a great stay. The bungalow was big and clean just in front of the beach. There is no ac, just fan and seabreeze. Electricity is turned off during daytime. The breakfast is not included but is very good as all meals we had, the service in the restaurant is excellent and there are plenty of high children chairs. I would easily go back to this place and really recommend it!

We stayed at Koh Bulone resort for ten days and had an absolutely amazing vacation. The ocean water is clear, warm and the beach was clean and free of rocks. I thoroughly enjoyed the quietness of being on a beach that was not overcrowded. The staff were friendly, genuine and accommodating to any of our requests and needs. Food was wonderful at this resort and we especially loved eating at the Marina which is a five minute walk from Koh Bulone! I did not go with my children on this trip, however will in the future. This resort is family orientated and is not geared for the partying type. Our bungalow was comfortable and clean and free of bugs.
Highly recommend this resort.

We stayed three nights here while island hopping in southern islands (Koh Tarutao, Koh Lipe, Koh Bulon Le). The island itself was superb: not too much resorts (like Koh Lipe) and a GREAT beach (where Bulone Resort happens to be located). The service was very nice and friendly and bungalows comfortable. We found Bulone Resort an ideal place to relax. The food in the resort was maybe a bit expensive for the quality, but it was easy to try out the other places on the island as well.

If you are planning to do island hopping in this region and want to find peaceful place with essential services, don't miss Koh Bulon! And we certainly think that the price of 1000 Baht/night was a good value for absolutely the best terrace view in our holiday.

Ps. On the day of departure, someone took my sandals while we where having a breakfast. While it might be just an accident (and quite probably has nothing to do with the resort itself), it was an annoying one since they where my only water-resistant shoes.

We stayed in the older bungalows on the right side of the beach. Absolute ok. I long of longstayers at the island, we had a three night stay and that was enough for us, even if the resort and the staff was nice.
