Perhaps this resort was once a 5-star facility, but it has since lost its luster. Mold, dirt, and flaking paint is everywhere. The gym has broken down equipment with no one in attendance (no towels, no water). Staff is very slow and inattentive, even when it comes to being asked for a towel for the pool. They also speak almost no English and are generally nowhere to be found. Trying to find some directions or enlisting in some activity can be quite a chore. The hotel is located about 30km north of the airport. This makes it a quiet location, but is nearly an hour's drive away from the heart of Phuket.
When I stayed here, it was 2 days after Christmas 09. It was apparent on arrival that there was a big party here, but nobody bothered to clean up for a few days! The restaurants were closed with dirty tables, plates, and food waste strewn about. One of the two restaurants was to remain closed until New Year's Eve. And before you spring for the hot springs, think about the appeal of dipping in 45C water in 35C weather.
This is definitely not a 5-star resort. It has the furnishings and facilities, but maintenance and services have fallen off to the wayside. I'd very generously rate it a 3 star. Luckily, I was only here for two nights. Given the realistic characteristics of this hotel and its location, I just can't find a reason to recommend staying here. You're much better off staying elsewhere, perhaps near Patong or Kharon.
