Please note that I am not ranking the Similan Islands here (see separate review); only the National Park bungalows. Firstly the 2013 cost was 2000 Bht (almost €50 per night). For that we got: Difficult booking system with extra costs for bank transfer; No wardrobe (although website advertises it); No hot water (although website advertises it); long steep steps with no assistance with baggage; one single-bed summer duvet for a double bed; no mosquito net; toilet seat that resisted all attempts to tighten it; wonky toilet system stop-valve; trash outside the door under the board-walk; a continuous faint whiff of sewerage.
It is saved from a 1-rating only by the Airco, but note that during the heat of the day - 6am to 6pm, the electricity supply is halted!!! If you can sleep on a thin camping mattress, then the tents would be a better value option. The Thailand NP misuses their monopoly on accommodation on the Similans to supply what I would rank as the worst-value accommodation on our 30-day Thailand trip. Had I known I would have booked a live-aboard.More
