Hi-light:
A large marble reclining Buddha image is the main attraction of the temple. Just take time to sit down quietly in the main hall looking at his face for a while, you will discover something deeply in your mind.
Regulation:
All are well organized included parking and offering materials. All visitors are asked to dress properly in the temple, there are free clothes for those who need to change at the base before climbing the steps up to the main hall.
Location: ***
I'm not sure about public transport accessibility. Most of the people come here by tourist bus, van, private car or motorcycle, 2 hours drive from Udonthani city center. The road condition is quite good included up and down-hill routes.
Universal design: *****
Very well-designed for elderly and wheel-chair people with wide convenient ramp from the base to the hill top and all facilities included toilets. There is also special ramp (but rather steep) to enter the main hall on the right hand side of the temple, just ask the officer to show you the way.
Cleanness: ****
Most of the area are well kept clean.
2 hours from Udon downtown but really worth driving here.
Never seen in any other temples in Thailand
Impressive temple with a very large marble reclining Buddha. The temple was very busy on the day we visited.
No matter depart from Nong Khai or Udon Thani, more that 100km one way, tired to reach by motorbike, I come here on second day (first day of motorbike journey from Nong Khai, end at skywalk) in Isaan with Hilux pickup. Cloudy on that day, although it's already 5+ in the evening, coz don't wanna to drive back to Udon Thani in dark, leave before light on.
Not recommend if you purposely come here unless for worship, or when travel along west area of Nong Khai, or combined with Phu Phra Bat Historical Park.
The Pa Phu Kon temple is a must to visit if you travel between northern Thailand and Laos.
Very impressive laying bouddha statue and amazing buildings / atmosphere with a view (!)
I would rate this temple as one of the most beautiful in Thailand. It is fairly modern, but it is situated on a hill and surrounded by beautiful forests. The architechture is amazing. I drove here from Udon Thani.
