Great location, friendly and helpful staff who looked after us really well. Excellent airboat tour on the nearby billabong. Also enjoyed a fantastic tour to Ubhirr with the colourful and knowledgeable Kym. Great food, lovely rooms. Thoroughly recommended.

We visited the lodge in October 2013 for a 3 night stay and had an amazing time. In hindsight we would have loved to cut our time short in Darwin and stayed another couple of days at the Lodge.
The accommodation was great – the Habitat cabins were comfortable, clean and the deck chairs were a great place to take time out and watch the sunset.
The food was brilliant – we were served some amazing dishes from the team. The breakfasts were abundant with fresh produce, and the 3 course evening dinners were delicious.
The tours were great – did the Home Billabong tour where we saw crocs (thanks to the crocodile whisperer!), wild boar, water buffalo and a cast of thousands of feathered friends. Also did the Leichhardt Point tour – can only describe it as one of the most peaceful and serene locations we’ve been to in a long time.
Make the most of the early mornings and late afternoons - great light for photography and the wildlife is out and about. Great time for a mountain bike ride too!
One of the biggest assets of the Lodge is by far the team. A big thank you to Beau, Shannon, Aidan and all the team for looking after us so well. A big thank you as well to Scott for the amazing tours.
We’ve told all our friends about the incredible experience and how good the lodge is, and are planning another trip back (with our friends) in 2014.
Thank you Wildman Wilderness Lodge for such an amazing holiday - it was the most relaxing break we've had in a long time.

Dear The_Molinaros

Thank you for your recent review.

As Wildman comes to a close for our 2013 season, to receive your review has reminded us here at the property that what we do, we do well. As the General Manager of the property it’s so good to see staff personally mentioned for their service. We are like a family here at Wildman and like to treat our guests also as family.

Wildman offers SO much for the visitor to the region to see but also the luxury we all deserve, as we move into the “Green Season” the birdlife at present is everywhere which adds to the outlook.

The team are as proud of the property as I am and having feedback like this makes our day.

Best wishes for the upcoming festive season, we hope to see you return to Wildman in the future.

Kind regards,

This was a surprise for my wife's birthday and was every bit a success as I'd hoped it would be. About 2 hours drive from Darwin, seemingly in the middle of nowhere is this tropical outback idyll. It is a very special place. We were privileged to be sharing the location with all manner of wild animals, but all in a very safe environment. The accommodation was special being in your own cabin with air con and all you would need for a few days stay, the view from which overlooked a rural grassed airfield (with no planes) providing a playground for wallabies, water buffalo, and all manner of birds.

The home billabong cruise was fascinating to be part of and highly recommended.

The food was exemplary, the service top notch. The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful at what must have been the end of a long season for them (they close on 24 Nov for the wet season).

And the swimming pool to cool off in was a regular pleasure.

Room Tip: They have either 'glamping' tents which looked good but for just that little extra, the cabi...

We were part of a 2 family group vacation and we loved it. Don't expect the Hyatt, but it offers so much more... closeness to nature, quiet starry nights, beautiful food and great staff. We were in the tents, and whilst initially we had hoped to book the cabins, we were unable to due to having 2 children, but in the end, the tent was the best. It was not hot at night and in fact got quite cool during the night. The tent opened up so we had a 180 degree vista over the land. The only very small complaint we would have, is that at dinner time on 2 nights, a large group came in and so the service was very slow (we even had to open our own wine) but we felt sorry for the staff. We would love to go back when in NT next.

Dear Finecky M

Thank you for your recent review.

Our safari tents offer the perfect accommodation for families and whilst it is warming up during the day as we head into the green season, the recent overnight rain falls do enhance the stay in our tents.

I do apologise for the slowness of service on the second night, as you saw Wildman is very popular and we do endeavour to space our meal periods to avoid delays for our guests.

The team and I work hard to ensure our guests experience the best the “Top End” has to offer and we really do hope to see you visit us again when you return to the NT. Best wishes from us all here at the lodge to you and your family for the upcoming festive season.

Basic, rustic, charming and luxurious, how can all four exist? Two types of accommodation on offer, habitat cabins and Safari tents. Both are well laid out, spacious and comfortable. The lodge depends on the beauty of the wetlands and wildlife. Dependant on time of year both are in abundance. The food is good. The attention to detail well thought out and executed. The lodge is about 2 hours from Darwin and well worth a visit if the wildlife and wetlands appeal. If not, don't blame the lodge. The staff are helpful and will go out of their way to assist. 6 stars to a 4 star property.

Dear Stephen W

Thank you for your recent review on Tripadvisor.

The team and I were delighted to read your comments. Wildman is surrounded by the beauty that is the Mary River National Park. The property effortlessly blends into the environment and offers our guests the opportunity to get a true feeling of the area.

“Basic, rustic charming and luxurious” what a description and very apt. We intentionally offer a style of service that is not “in your face”. Our want is for guests to relax, refresh and unwind with it all happening behind the scenes.

We look forward to welcoming you back to Wildman in the future and we wish you the very best for the upcoming festive season.

Wow! What can we say! This place is absolutely fantastic! Reminded us a lot of some of the lodges we stayed in Botswana. We were in one of the Habitat cabins and it was amazing. Attention to detail in every aspect. Shannon, the Food and Beverage Manager is outstanding and an asset to the Lodge. He moves seamlessly from one role to another - barman, serving in the dining room, barista, cleaner, fisherman...!!!
Definitely can recommend this little oasis! I didn't want to leave!

Room Tip: Habitat cabin if it is during the hotter time.

We stayed here in October 2013 in the Safari tents. The accommodation is beautifully decorated and the tents are very spacious. The entire property is beautiful, lots of wildlife and lots of fantastic mountain biking courses that we made the most of. The food was excellent, especially the dessert! But what we liked most was the customer service, we were mainly looked after by a man called Shannon who looked after our every need. The best part of the trip was a fishing tour we did with him at the crack of dawn. We had heaps of bites and reeled in 10 barra and saratoga, so an excellent place for anyone who enjoys fishing. We expected the tents to be a little warm and they were, but that's what you get in the territory!

The team and I work hard to ensure our guests experience the best Wildman has to offer and it’s so pleasing to see Shannon had such an impact on your stay. We work in a beautiful park of the country and we are so glad you got to experience our home.

Again thank you so much for visiting. We really do hope to see you return to Wildman in the future and we wish you all the best for the upcoming festive season.
