“Excellent staff - good experience”
Reviewed March 15, 2013

I attended this hotel for a conference and the conference facilities were excellent.

I want to compliment the staff - they were all very friendly and helpful. The Spa staff were exceptionally helpful.

Ideal if you want to have a weekend away with horseracing , good walking area too.

Breakfast was good , restaurant typical Marriott . Bar area and restaurant was a bit chilly in temperature - near the windows.

Booked the hotel as I had booked a spa treatment for the wife. Hotel was very good, staff very attentive, requests we made were very quickly dealt with by them. Spa was nice and again the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Would recommend the hotel for a one or two nights - room was ok with a view across the racecourse - not sure what it would be like if a race meeting was on. Breakfast was good and must agree with previous comment about the poached eggs, they were very good (made by Nikki the Chef)

I booked a 2 night bed, breakfast and dinner break to celebrate my husbands birthday and to take advantage of the horse racing at Lingfield. The staff were very professional, helpful and efficient. The room overlooked the racecourse, just what we wanted. The room was a little cold, but this was due to the previous occupants not shutting the French doors, but the staff rectified this swiftly. The breakfast was good and the show cooking at dinner was very entertaining. The food was very well presented. We had a little wait between our first course and main course, but the Chef gave us some sorbet to apologise, which I thought was a lovely gesture. The only downside was my husband got a gastric bug (nothing to do with the hotel) so was poorly on our second day and missed the enjoyment of the racing and dinner. Apart from this I would definitely return so my husband and I could enjoy a weekend racing without any illness.

Room Tip: Room 239, superior room, had excellent view over the racecourse.

I have stayed here many times and it is always a good standard. Was bit disappointed that the selection of whiskies has been reduced in the bar to three. I am sure some people would like to see a greater selection. The breakfast is always good. I have no idea how they cook such perfect poached eggs, but they do. I used a taxi firm the hotel advised. I know the area well but was taken on scenic route to get a few extra quid on the meter. Find your own taxi would be my advise. Hotel rooms are clean and have free WiFi which seems to be unlimited. Great location and views of the race course.

Stayed the night here before an operation at Queen Vic Hospital in East Grinstead. Very convenient to the hospital. Nice quiet hotel in spite of a conference going on - so got a good night's sleep. Beds are comfortable, rooms are a good size, pool etc looked good but we did not use them.
We chose not to eat dinner at the hotel because of the conference but there is an excellent dinner to be had in nearby Lingfield (about 5 minutes away) at a pub called The Old Cage at a very reasonable price. The receptionist kindly provided the recommendation and directions.
I would definitely stay again if I had a hospital appointment, an event at the race track or a conference. It is not terribly near London or Gatwick, so you would really want to have local business/visit to want to stay at this hotel.
Good value for money hotel.

Overall a good experience and enjoyable . Bedrooms very comfortable. Restaurant food was surprisingly good albeit with small portions. Breakfast was very good . Bar area is not that welcoming and prices are very high. Paid £9.20 for a Gin and tonic and half a lager . They only had Bombay so I assume the single G&T set me back over £6.50 So enjoy the view and drink in the room . Why they don’t tempt customers to use the bar by charging sensible prices and making it a bit special is beyond me ?
If a hotel is going to charge premium prices then at least serve the drinks in decent glasses.

Staff all very good and check in /out all very good .
Health spa is very average with small pool and busy Jacuzzi . There are a couple of treatment rooms a steam room and a sauna . If you are expecting a luxury spa experience you will be disappointed.
If you want a swim and sauna then its ok .

I would say an ideal venue for a sport filled weekend with golf and racing . Generally I would the place is a little soulless though .

We arrived at the hotel for a three night stay to find we had been allocated a twin instead of a double as requested, when we pointed it out, the frankly rude receptionist told us to go to another hotel if we were unhappy and proceeded to write down phone numbers!!! She then told us we could have a double for the remaining two nights of our stay. When we pointed out that they were favouring a guest staying one night over guests with a request staying three that she 'found' us a double. To add insult to injury, we were not able to eat at the hotel at all as they were fully booked. We were not advised this upon checkin and ended up having to call taxis to dine out. Completely unacceptable. The facilities are too small for the size of hotel leaving guests disappointed. On Saturday they were hosting a Harwoods Land Rover event which made access to the hotel very difficult and indeed we were told we could not pull up to the front! Again we were not advised of this and as it was a race day too, the hotel was chaotic and staff overrun. Finally when we asked to speak to the manager upon checkout we were told he was 'too busy' to see us and would call - we won't hold our breath. Anyone wishing to stay in the area we would recommend the Felbridge Hotel and Spa - an all round much better experience.
