Never been to Guys before, it was recommended by a work colleagues we wanted somewhere nice to walk our dogs and get a bite to eat.

The walk along the canal was nice so then we went into Owd Nells to get some lunch. You can take dogs into the pub when eating but we decided to sit outside as it was a nice day. We ordered a burger, steak sandwich & 2 soft drinks. The pub was busy with drinkers as it was Paddy's Day & a few people ordering food. After 40 minutes of waiting my Husband went to ask where it was, we weren't given a wait time but thought what we ordered wasn't too tasking. The guy who took my order at the bar came out to ask us what we ordered, I gave him my receipt to show him and he said he would go check on it. Thought this was a little strange, he should have known what we'd ordered. We waited another 10 minutes and no-one returned so my Husband went in again to check what was going in. He came back out with a young waiter who asked to take my receipt. He then came back and said there had been a problem with the check's and they had been mixed up. They would start to make the food now but it would be 30 minutes...for a steak sandwich & a burger- that they had messed up! I said I didn't understand how they were mixed up, my check must have been lost as it wasn't like my order went to the wrong table!

We needed to be somewhere in 20 minutes time so asked for our money back. My Husband went in to deal with this and came back with the money for our food...they charged us for our soft drinks despite making us wait for 1 hour in total for 2 sandwiches that didn't show up!!! I was so angry but he didn't want me to go back in. I work in hotels and know that throughout the entire industry if you mess someone's food or order up they at least get a free round of drinks. We didn't even get so much as an apology...we will not be going back again unfortunately. Staff just didn't have a clue what was going on!

6 of us stayed in 3 rooms last night (16/03/12). The rooms were clean and spacious. We had a few niggles like the door key not always making the electricity work and the tv having to re-scan digital channels. We sorted the issues and didn't have to contact reception. We had a dog barking at about 11pm but the staff quickly sorted this (another room must have complained !).
Out of the 6 only 2 didn't have a good nights sleep.. the ducks and birds seemed to enjoy themselves in the night and were noisy but the beds were comfortable. We can't blame guys for local wildlife !!
I have another review about Owd Nells and Guys Eating Establishment but both were great, lovely food and service was fine.
Comments by previous reviewers about the food are very strange - this food is far better than pub quality...I don't settle for what I get served. Maybe we had a different chef..or maybe you work for a competitor !!
I would like to know of a pub that serves such nice food. We have never eaten in Owd Nells before but found the food, staff and atmosphere great.
Both places were busy and the atmosphere was great.

Room Tip: Our Party were in standard rooms 12,14 and 15 on the Friday Feeling booking

Very disappointed with the food!! Restaurant food no better than pub food at it s worst!! Tried at the pub next door the night following and it was no better!! Yet both places where busy!! Do people just settle for what they are served!! Could do much better myself, but thats not what I go away for!! Did nt live up to expectations of previous experiences when Guys was the place to go!! Room was clean and comfortable and the staff work hard but found the pub staff to be distant at the very least!! Where has British hospitality gone, even manners!!

Went with my partner for a nice break and it is a nice place to go (if you are lucky!). The food was of good standard and speed was excellant. However the staff were unwelcoming and when problems started to occur, they werent interested and never apologised once. What made it worse we booked for two nights and they escalated. We raised all but no apology by anyone, even at the top!! We came back and needed another break to recover.
Bottom line, you take a gamble and if everything goes well you will enjoy, if not, then forget raising it as its a family business as as long as they get the bookings, they aint bothered!.
Will never go back there now even if they paid me and all my friends have pulled out on it. If they were that confident on the service, they would invite you back to show you it was a one off- Not so much as a apology, just an inconvience for them in extra work to respond.

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

Guy's is a very unusual set up , having pub,Italian Resturant hotel and small shops. It is situated on the A65 not far from Preston. It is however very busy, friendly with good staff and our room was very comfotable. When we arrived the heating easn't working in our room within 10 minutes someone came and sorted it out, this we considered good effecient service. The resturant's food was good in quaility and value. The hand pulled beer (eight to choose from) that I had was up to standard. Guy's is worth a visit with many regular attractions for families. If you are a runner there is a good flat10 mile road race in October from there. Give it a try.

Went here not with particularly high hopes and glad I didn't to be honest.

It was half term week and had an Ice rink and small funfair in place which was a little noisy but not intrusively so.

The 'Village' itself no doubt was quite spectacular in it's day but is starting to look a little 'tired' to put it mildly.

The staff are quite welcoming and certainly the meal we had in the restaurant was really nice if maybe a little expensive, (Compared to establishments in my own locality)

Where the 'Fawlty Towers' of my Title for this review comes in was our first night there.

We had one of the rooms with a 'Spa' bath and so it would appear did the surrounding rooms...the noise when you get one or more of these thing running is like living next to a bloody railway station, the walls are very thin and seem to transmit sounds very easily.

Unfortunately for us whoever was next door to us not only liked the Spa...a lot...they sounded like they were filming a bloody porn movie as well, good job it was just me and my partner and NOT a family!

So the first night went fine up to our meal, (Which was excellent) went to bed around midnight, half twelve neighbours fall in and fire up Spa, then proceed to follow it up with some very vocal lovemaking, (Which while irritating was very funny!) then just as we drift off to sleep around half one, there's a huge pounding on our door followed by some idiot shouting 'Fire, fire!' and running off into the dark no doubt thinking how bloody funny he was, THEN at around three in the morning the bloody fire alarms go off!

Now whilst no doubt we should've immediately evacuated...we didn't...and neither did anyone else bar a few curious individuals, so all in all not a restful night at all!

Would I come again?.....possibly, the Spa bath IS very restful and inivgorating I have to admit, although ours had some kind of panel that didn't appear to work, (Yet more signs of things getting a little tired?) but we may come back in July as there's a show in Preston we quite fancy and we may book the double executive room with the larger Spa as a treat, but will wait and see how we feel after we get home and have a think.

Room Tip: Would recommend the Spa baths, the rooms are ok, little like a Travel Lodge or Premier Inn to be hon...
