“Amazing!!”
Reviewed April 15, 2013

When I visited this wonderful tea room, it was a cold rainy sunday afternoon, however it did not matter in the slightest. As soon as you walk in to this wonderful cottage the warmth of the people atmosphere and quaint surroundings over comes you. The old stable is a wonderful setting with old pictures and tack still filling the space. The food is perfect and all home made and the staff are so smiley friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be going again next time I'm down that way and am very much looking forward to it.

We are very glad you enjoyed your visit to Stable Cottage, but sorry about the cold rainy Sunday! It's warming up here in the South-West so hope you can get down here again soon.

“Excellent freshly home-baked scones and cakes, friendly service, great views”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

It's hard to beat Stable Cottage for teas. Our favourite is the Farmhouse Tea - their own free-range eggs, poached or boiled, toast, fruit cake and tea - all home-made. The cream teas are delicious, too, with scones freshly made that day by the owner, Sue. On a sunny day it's lovely to sit peacefully in the garden and gaze at the stunning, far-reaching views. The views can also be seen from the large conservatory if the weather isn't so good and there's additional seating inside the tea room if the place is full, which it often is. The service is friendly and it's a great place for tea whether you've been walking or are just out for afternoon tea. Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the garden. A good tea-room for all age groups, but a peaceful place, so not suitable for families with unruly children.

Thank you for your lovely review - so pleased you enjoy a good Farmhouse tea! We are very glad here at Stable Cottage that the weather seems to be warming up slightly at last. Hopefully the garden will now start to look a little more Spring-like. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

“Beautiful”
Reviewed April 5, 2013

Visited here following recommendation from OH. As a 22 and 26 year old we were younger than the other customers. This is a lovely cottage in a beautiful landscape with different rooms to choose from to sit in, all very different in decor and atmosphere. We chose the conservatory as the sun was shining. The scones were lovely and the toast was to die for. Whats more, I opted for hot chocolate insead of tea and was brought a pot of delicious hot chocolate which was very lovely. Im looking forward to the next visit now :)

“Fantastic food, the best poached eggs EVER”
Reviewed March 18, 2013 via mobile

Had heard about the place from many different people and we decided to try it, went after a fantastic walk in the snow at Cothelstone hill. Traditional Surrondings, the tea room is very oldy woldy, we ate in the tea room rather than the conservatory as so cold. Had poached eggs followed by 2 scones, poached eggs were the very best, totally amazing. You must have them! Word of warning go for one scone not 2 as I felt very sick.

Definitely worth a visit though, 5 stars

“So worthwhile”
Reviewed March 16, 2013

You must visit, even if you are not in the area! Pleasant drive through beautiful grounds. Plenty of parking. Even opened the door for us. Wood burner going, rain lashing down....cream tea served in conservatory, with fantastic views...when the rain stopped. Great atmosphere winter or summer. Clean, friendly, good service with a smile, reasonably priced. Short, but so good a menu, just what a cream tea place should be.
