“A lovely welsh retreat.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Soar Chapel for a weekend break in December after purchasing a group on deal. And what a deal it was. A fantastic family business with a warm welcome. The homemade welsh cakes are a very nice and yummy touch. As we were there in December the guest house was adorned with Decorations and looked absolutely beautiful. A perfect location to go and see the local sights including the Big Pitt And the old Iron Works. If we are ever looking for a nice break in Wales again we will be returning.

Visiting relatives nearby we took advantage of this beautifully restored Chapel, also enjoying Lesley's inventive cleverly created evening meals.Recipes will be copied I can assure! The couple of days were so relaxing, it was like coming home.We had an extra family member visit one evening, and she also enjoyed her special requested 'vegetarian' meal. and the spacious lounge meant we could catch up without disturbing other guests over the other side of the gallery. It's a 'must' for future visits, and thoroughly recommended for the best rooms, food, and welcoming family, you couldn't go wrong booking this oasis, just remember to book well in advance, it deserves to be busy.

Stayed for 2 nights and can not recall such a pleasant experience. We were made to feel most welcome by the family/owners, for whom nothing was too much trouble - they certainly want to please. The quality of the rooms and the large homely central lounge made for a most relaxed stay which was only surpassed by the excellent cooked Welsh Breakfast and the even better evening meal. Recommend the later option is taken in preference to seeking out local restaurants. We will most certainly be back!!!
Brilliantly located for everything to do with the Brecons - average 20-30 mins will get you to any walk/park or feature. Could not be better.

Room Tip: All rooms are good and within short period will all be ensuite offerings

Stayed at the Soar Chapel B@B for a weekend in October. We had originally booked a twin room but after a Groupon mix up we ended up staying in the 2 bed annex which was perfect .
After a long day of walking it was great to put our feet up in our own lounge and open a bottle of something chiilled.. If you have children or like your own space this is ideal. Breakafast was excellent as was the service .Owners are very welcoming and we would defiantley go back. If you do stay here you will need a car but within an our or so you have lots of things to see and do.

We jumped at the chance of a Groupon offer for Soar Chapel as it is close to an area where we wanted to do some family history research. We were greeted very warmly by Lesley who was also very helpful with information about the local area.
Our room was clean, well appointed and comfy. The TV was in a good position with good reception. The shower cubicle was large, enabling you to dry yourself thoroughly before stepping out. This made a wonderful change from the normal cramped cubicles.
Breakfast was very nice. We both enjoyed the full Welsh cooked breakfast both days of our stay. We also enjoyed dinner on our first night which was very tasty but it was not available on the second night of our stay.
The lovely Welsh cakes and brownies provided in the bedroom were a welcome touch. the lounge area was also nice and very comfy. The whole house had a nice ambience. It has been restored very well and was not 'sterile' like some Guest houses but quite homely.
Lesley wasn't available to thank on our departure morning but her son was the perfect host!
Thank you for a lovely stay and we are also pleased to say that the family research was much more successful than we had hoped for!

We stayed for two nights using a Groupen voucher. Lesley was very welcoming nothing was too much trouble. We had dinner both nights and Lesley cooks wonderful tasty meals, her breakfast was one of the best we have had at a BB. We found it was more like visiting friends at their home instead of a guest house, we even wore our slippers for dinner as it was so relaxing. A very comfortable lounge upstairs where you could watch TV, read, or play board games or just relax.

I can only reiterate what others have said about this B&B. The rooms are fantastic, modern, clean and comfortable. There is a lovely guest lounge with separate seating areas to either watch tv or read by the fire. We booked for the evening meal both nights and the food was the best we had ever tasted. Breakfast was delicious and nothing was too much trouble for Lesley and her daughter. I would thoroughly recommend this B&B - it was outstanding.
