Friends and I visited Haut-Koenigsberg castle during our visit to the Alsace area. Views from this old stone marvel were just awesome...of the picturesque villages in the area, the forest, the Rhine valley and shadows of the Black Forest on the Rhine's other side. It's here you feel the pivotal role the Alsace region had in the WWI era. The old castle was rebuilt by the Kaiser after occupying this region of France. Much is preserved of the earlier era, but areas, including the dining room, were vastly expanded for the greater aggrandizement of mustachioed tyrant. A nice visit in a beautiful part of the world, and well worth an hour or so of your time.
