Stayed at Hotel Skodsborg for a meeting and loved it there. Had breakfast, lunch and dinner there and loved every meal. The breakfast buffet had lots of options, including healthy options. The location is wonderful, right on the shore with a beautiful view across the water to Sweden. Rooms are large, bright and seems new, and come with free wifi access. I would love to go back!

Room Tip: A room with ocean view would be great!

We stayed overnight while attending an anniversary party at the hotel. The catering at the party was generous and of a high standard. It made a very pleasant change that the menu was also healthy with plenty of seasonal vegetables. Our room was fine, comfortable bed and nice bathtub to soak in, but with a view to the car park and train line. The station is five minutes walk from the hotel, so this is actually very convenient and the trains were not noisy. Breakfast was exceedingly good. Huge selection, very high quality again, options to be healthy with fruits, smoothies or to treat yourself with bacon, eggs, pastries. Lovely bright restaurant with views to the sea. The hotel stored our bags after check-out so we could go for a walk before taking the train back to Copenhagen. Note that there is no public access to the beach directly opposite the hotel, you need to go down to Klampenborg.

Nice external appearancefacing out to sea. Curently being renovated. Hotel was not full but they put me in a room with a single bed which was lodged at 3 sides to walls and therefore I could not lie straight in bed! But, then again, how could I sleep anyway with the noise from passing trains.

Dinner tasted good but for the 1st time in history I experienced a hotel that offered only 1 starter, 1 main, and 1 dessert (plus same again for vegetarians). Thinking we had been given a (very) fixed menu instead of a la carte we asked for the a la carte menu and were told that we could mix choices from the vegetarian and non-vegetarian options (i.e. choice of 2 starters etc etc). If that was not bad enough we asked for dessert to be told they thought the kitchen was now closed but they had not bothered to warn us it was closing, They decided they could do dessert but there was only 1 dessert on offer. That is not service!

We booked our room for one night on a special january offer including dinner and breakfast.
Dinner and breakfast were really good and service was fine.
Gym/fitness area was a bit tiny as they are rebuilding the premises and had moved the facilities to some temporary barracks.
Our room was nice, it seems that we had been upgraded to a superior or deluxe (the receptionist was not very articulate when she explained it to us). But there were no complimentary bathrobes or slippers. The bathroom amenities were hard to see, as they use those cheap dispensers for shampoo/shower gel in one. Soap on the washing room was of a size of toe nail.
Staff at the reception showed no sign of interest in their job or in the customers. They were polite but indifferent: quite unbecoming hotel receptionists who are supposed to make the guest feel welcomed.
Otherwise we got proper value for our money as used a special offer. I am not sure that I would recommend this place at full price.

Let me say that we were somewhat puzzled with our stay, which is somewhat tainted by experiences at (Real) luxury hotels around the world. So let me be very specific about what we thought was very strange/disliked (Considering it is a 4 star) as this might be things other travelers does not care much about. Also please consider that price wise it is not an expensive hotel, and considering the salary's that waiters and service people get in Denmark (CPH has the highest gross salary level in the world) they were actually good trained and service minded.

First the positives
- Very nice personnel, though some waiters were untrained. E.I. we had to seat our self at breakfast at a table that was dirty. Waiters seamed a little cocky, though we sometimes experience this abroad as we are quite young and thing we are not quality experienced. (Stupid to misread people)
- Clean, modern rooms/facilities and fantastic surroundings. (Sea, forest and CPH close)
- Food ingredients of very high quality, though the cooking quality and selections was limited. (Again it is not a gourmet restaurant and prices are ok considering the quality and that you are in DK)
- Technogym Chip workout gear. (Best you can get, very high quality)
- Good selection of spa treatments, but order in advance!! As on the day selection is limited to non-existent. (If you don't have preferences on treatments they have last minute 25% discount on what they have left)
- Free internet. (Strange as they tried to capitalize on other things)

Negatives/strange things
- The SPA pools are clearly tempered wrong. We almost froze in the hottest SPA
- No subtropical climate at the SPA. Expect to freeze when you are out of the water.
- The hotel acts strangely cheap, and tries to get an additional $ here and there.. A couple of ridicules examples, like 2 Euros' for a key card at the locker, 6 Euros' for bath rope. (Which you by the way have to order in advance for it to be in your room??)
- No courtesy slippers (Have to pay 6 Euros' and order in advance)
- Extremely low quality of towels, and they are very small in size. And you cannot get new ones at the SPA! (We have never experienced this before)
- No clima system in the room. (Hotel explained us that it was because the hotel was a member of the environmental "green key" chain. Great! but we still froze in our room.
- Limited selections at breakfast (No special order like pancakes/omelets) and almost no Danish pastry selections. (Again, very high quality of ingredients!)
- The GYM / SPA is over used by elder people, and get very crowed in the afternoon. (As people in the area subscribe as a normal gym)
- Beds of OK quality (We stayed in king size) however the pillows/comforter were of very bad quality. Strange and annoying but properly explained by some environmental thing.

Overall it is a little embarrassing for us as Danes (We live in CPH) that this is proclaimed as the highest quality SPA in CPH, considering what you get in even neighboring countries and other parts of Denmark. If you are visiting DK and want to go to a international quality SPA go to Jutland where you will find much higher quality with equal surroundings. (Unfortunately also far from CPH)
Just google 5 star quality SPA's.

I hope this is useful, and please consider that if you are not used to 4/5 star international hotels you will properly find the hotel experience OK.

I was here on business and this is an interesting place that has multiple uses: conferences and meetings, to regular accomodations, to people getting medical rehabiliation amd spa services.

Skodsborg is about 20 km north of Copenhagen and easy access by the train system (hotel is a 5 min walk from the Skodsborg station), taxi/car service, or by driving.

There is not much to do in Skodsborg itself! The hotel itself is nice and in a quiet tranquil location near the water... lovely water view from my room.

Pros:
- Nice staff
- Food on site at the Frederick and Louise restaurant is good quality and has a nice variety at all meals... breakfasts are the same every day but with a nice hot and cold variety. Lunches have a lot of consistency from day to day, with a special feature that changes, and desserts have some change. These are all buffet style. Dinners vary. Food is rated into 3 levels by relative "healthiness" for those cautious about their weight or here for the spa aspect.
- Good sized rooms and excellent shower!
- Free internet
- Gym facilities included in rate

Cons:
- Not much to do in Skodsborg itself
- Limited toiletries in the room (bath gel, shampoo, soap and comb)
- Bed appears to be a queen, but is actually 2 single mattresses pushed together. They are very thin and rather than having a single queen duvet, 2 separate single duvets are given that are very narrow. Bedding and pillows are not very comfortable

I enjoyed my stay here and would come back if I needed to be in Skodsborg again.

I'm very surprised by the other reviews as I found this hotel to be beautiful and the staff to be very accommodating. My room was spacious, with a comfortable bed (although typical European bed in terms of harder and more narrow than many American hotels), incredible view of the Eastern sea, great gym, and beautiful grounds. There is a forrest right behind the hotel which makes for a very relaxing walk or run. The train station is less than a 5 minute walk from the hotel and it's an easy trip into Copenhagen. The hotel is very quiet.
