Waipoua Lodge was so perfectly authentic it felt like we had finally arrived in the real New Zealand. The charm of the lodge was surpassed only by the warmth, good humor, and service of Fran and Ian as our hosts. Fran's menu offerings were innovative and delicious and the ambiance great-- whether served on the back deck, the back porch, the dining area or dessert in the Library. The very quaint bar made sharing a drink with other guests a lovely way to end an evening. Ian and Fran's knowledge of the area will wow you...they prepared a picnic lunch for us to share on a quiet and beautiful local beach and provided dessert after our wonderful nighttime Maori walk in Waipoua Forest. This is a part of New Zealand you will treasure.
