“Best in Every Way!”

Waipoua Lodge was so perfectly authentic it felt like we had finally arrived in the real New Zealand. The charm of the lodge was surpassed only by the warmth, good humor, and service of Fran and Ian as our hosts. Fran's menu offerings were innovative and delicious and the ambiance great-- whether served on the back deck, the back porch, the dining area or dessert in the Library. The very quaint bar made sharing a drink with other guests a lovely way to end an evening. Ian and Fran's knowledge of the area will wow you...they prepared a picnic lunch for us to share on a quiet and beautiful local beach and provided dessert after our wonderful nighttime Maori walk in Waipoua Forest. This is a part of New Zealand you will treasure.

Truly hospitable hosts, great food, wine and coffee, excellent accommodation, beautiful location. Waipoua Lodge has it all. We felt truly pampered. Was it the spa? the magnificent bush at your back door? the feeling that there was nothing to worry about as all was taken care of? our content tummies? the facial with products compliments of the lodge? or just an excellent bed? which led to some of my best slumber ever.

My recommendation? Go to Waipoua Lodge if you have the opportunity!

Ian and Fran were extremely friendly welcoming and helpful hosts. Nothing was too much trouble, they even helped wash the lime from roadworks off my partners beloved car! They have a beautiful home, with a lounge, and even a little library where you can read and enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine etc before dinner. The food was fantastic - catered for myself as a vegetarian, and my partner had the best steak he has had in New Zealand. They happily served dinner around the Twilight footprints tour ( AMAZING you must do it!) - so we had soup first around 4pm, then main and pudding when we got back around 9pm. The accommodation was clean, comfortable, and had everything you could need including a mini kitchen - but please, enjoy Frans cooking instead!

Room Tip: If you require 2 bedrooms, go for the tack room.

The place is well maintained and the staff is very friendly going beyond the call of duty in our particular case. The property is very peaceful and it feels like a real getaway from busy urban life. Quite secluded location and some great forest walks in the area.

Room was very comfortable and clean.
Dinner and breakfast was excellent. It was authentic and very delicious.
Owner & Hosts were very kind and friendly. On reserving by internet, we exchanged e-mails. They responded to my question immediately and also made much advice about the tour of Kauri Forest.
And Owner & Hosts were very friendly. After dinner, my wife and I had amusing talk with them.
We stayed as if we were at my friend's house, who were our old friends.
We stayed only one night, but next time we wish to stay this lodge more and more.

The Lodge was easy to find after follwoing the excellent directions, with a warm and friendly welcome. Additional items were in room as requested. Room was well furnished, warm and comfortable. The dinner service was impeccable with excellent food and wine. The breakfast was perfect; not too big nor too small. The highlight was the personal touches and little extras that made our stay memorable.
