This is my fist ever review but feel i have to praise this establishment. I have travelled extensively and stayed at some great places but this is up there with the best. We have just returned from an overnight stay (Frid) at The Oak Tree. From the moment we arrived the staff (Sam) were so helpful and welcoming, the place is modern but retains a traditional feel and personal touches in the room make it a great getaway location. Food was excellent, both dinner and breakfast and every request made was no trouble for all staff. Another great plus is the warm welcome from the locals (Grant) and the real ale was an added bonus. I'm someone who demands value for money and wont accept 2nd best. This place is a gem and we will be back.

We spent 3 nights at The Oak Tree. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, helpful and professional in the extreme. The re-building of this old inn has been done to the highest standard. Our room (Lime) was not particularly large, but everything one needed was there, the huge bed one of the most comfortable we have slept in. The bathroom was again a masterclass in the use of space.
Food could not be faulted. We had 3 dinners as well as breakfasts. Once again the staff were top drawer--particularly young Sam, sooo enthusiastic! A well run team Sally. There and I havn't even mentioned the decor! We'll be back.

Stayed one night in April to celebrate a friend's birthday. My overall memory is of the very affable, efficient and cheery welcome we received and which lasted throughout our stay. Top marks for customer training! The bedroom was excellent with a very comfortable bed, all amenities which you could reasonably expect and an en suite bathroom which was very well furnished - jacuzzi bath, under floor heating etc. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced (remembering that you come here essentially to partake of up market meals) and the daily specials added interest. There was an extensive bar with knowledgeable staff but this lacked the warmth and feel of "the local" which we experienced when we stayed at The Durham Ox (The Oak Tree's sister establishment). The overall impression was very favourable and I would wholeheartedly recommend a stay here.

Stayed overnight in April. Greeted by cheery, efficient staff, happy to engage in banter. Very comfortable cosy room with all amenities, fully tiled bathroom with heated floor, jacuzzi bath and shower. Lovely cask ale in the bar complete with log burner and good selection of reasonably priced wine. Dinner most enjoyable and and well prepared. Only black mark was the 'warm' treacle tart was cold, however it didn't last long enough for me to complain! Breakfast again was plentiful and well presented. Food not quite Durham Ox, but very close. Heartily recommended
