We found the Oak Tree from a write up in the Sunday Times 15 best pubs with rooms, all I can say is fantastic ! lovely room lovely food great service from really friendly staff, we will definitely stay there when we go to Yorkshire again.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Willow room which is one of the smaller rooms but had a king size bed.

Party of fourteen for lunnch. Great meal and food was superb. House Pinot to open the batting with for the girls and a combination of Black Sheep and Tiimy Taylors for the boys.
Cote de Rhone with the beef and the cheese washed down with some Sauterne with the puddings.
Marvellous.
If you go there which I hope you do; please give Jessica the waitress a Jumbo good tip.

We were diverted here from the Durham Ox (sister pub) as they were full. What a find! Great room, fab food and the most amazing service from the guy was working lunch, dinner and breakfast the next morning - excellent breakfast too! We will definitely be back.

This establishment has been completely renovated to the highest standard with top quality furnishings and fittings. All areas have been finished with care and thoughtfulness especially the bedroom which had the wow factor with a super king bed and the enhancing facilities with a large walk in shower and jacuzzi bath. The staff from the moment of arrival to the point of departure were warm, welcoming and attentive. The food on the evening of arrival (staff had pre booked an optional table for us in the restaurant ) was tastefully served from a diverse menu and both courses of starters and main courses were superb. Bar prices are reasonable and the cost of the package for the one night was a bargain being in peak of school holidays.. The bar and restaurant were busy on the Saturday we stayed but still a comfortable environment. The clientèle of the restaurant had a mix from the formal to casual and everyone seemed at ease with this mix. Overall our stay was a fantastic experience and we would recommend this establishment. We will be back and I would recommend anyone taking spouse or partner for any special occasion will not be disappointed - guaranteed.

We had dinner at The Oak on Friday 6th August and immediately on arrival it was obvious that a lot of thought had gone into the design of both the bar and restaurant areas. Lovely furniture and furnishings especially the 'tartan' curtains and seat coverings! Service was quick, efficient and served with a smile. Then the food arrived and we were not disappointed, it was fabulous. Delicious and beautifully presented. At £30 a head including a tip we thought this was value for money and will definately be returning. We have eaten at both the Durham Ox and The Carpenters Arms albeit many years ago but we like to try them again now that Provenance Inns have worked their magic.
