“A great collection in a beautiful setting!”
Reviewed September 16, 2011

The drve through the Alsace to get to this museum is alone worth the trip; through little villages and rolling hills, the views are lovely. The museum is well designed, entertaining and interesting for all ages. Across the street is a beautiful 19th century chateau, with a restaurant. The food is good and the setting is nice. Even if you go only for a piece of home-made cake, eating there is the perfect accompaniment to the wonderful museum. If you have the museum pass for this region ( Germany, Switzerland and France) the entrance fee to the museum is covered by your pass.

“The new Lalique museum is a treasure chest of art nouveau glass and jewellery, and there is much more in the area!”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

The genius and imagination of Rene Lalique deserves its beutiful and creative brand new museum in the midst if the National Prk of Northern Vosges, in Alsace. In a spectacular natural setting, the old factory buildings have been renovated, and a brand new addition is a perfect showcase for glassware, decorative items, art noveau jewellery and the most delicious perfume flacons. It also has a very nice cafe, with a cheap and cheerful menu.
Ten minutes drive takes you to another of the many traditional old glassworks in the aerea. what is now the International Center for Glass Art. Highly interesting exhibiions of a selection of beautiful pieces by Emile Gallè and his collaborators, and explanations of
all aspects of the old craft. The old factory hall is now a cultural center, with concerts and great exhibitions of contemporary art.
You can go on a bit further to St. Louis where you`ll find another lovely museum, crystalworks going back til Louis 14. Innovatively arranged, in Le Grand Place you walk around in a sort of spiral for nearly 1000 meters to see fantastic examples of works in crystal.
You can buy the new editions as well, but even at factory prices they ar not cheap ...
The natural beauty of the area is outstanding, and lots of walking routes to choose from.
