I have just returned from The Pearl after a 4-night stay this past weekend with a group of women. The pros of this hotel is its location. It is in the heart of Rosemary Beach with easy access to the beach, restaurants and shopping. However, I would not return to this hotel because the service and amenities are lacking for the price. We paid over $750 a night for a room and at that rate I (we) expected top notch amenities. The service and amenities provided are more in line with a 3-star hotel at best. Most of the staff was very pleasant. But, the wait staff in the Havana Beach restaurant need training. While they were nice they were not very knowledgeable of the menu and other offerings --not just one of them but all of them. For example, one of us asked for a hard boiled egg. She was told they didn't have hard boiled eggs despite their being menu items with hard boiled eggs. She was told the menu items with a hard boiled egg were already pre-made and they didn't have hard boiled eggs not chopped up -- okay.

My room specifically, we ordered in-room service for coffee using the the iPad provided. When our coffee didn't show up we called down and finally on the third day were told the iPad is not reliable.

The spa or lack thereof was a huge disappointment. Standing in a small waiting area with 7-8 other ladies, waiting to be called back was not what we were expecting for a top-rated spa as advertised. No dressing area -- no lounging area, etc. Not to mention, paying $195 for a massage without any other spa amenities is ridiculous.

No beach service was disappointing. The towel guy at the beach was rude.

The rooftop bar was closed most of the time we were there -- and this was a big selling point for us. The weather was not favorable but I would think if your selling point is the rooftop bar then they should be prepared for rainy days.

All in all our Girls' Trip was still fun but the hotel was a huge disappointment, especially for the price we paid.

The hotel and it's staff were all lovely!!! But. The areas of Rosemary Beach, Alys Beach, and Watercolor were all developed by the same company and the buildings in each area are smack dab on top of each other. Rental homes, condos and commercial buildings too close together. Very upscale. The actual beach was narrow - and sooooo crowded. Families everywhere and therefore not exactly suited for a romantic couples getaway.

Room tip: an ocean front room is nice, but it is a restricted view

Recently, on a friend’s recommendation, we spent 4 nights at The Pearl Hotel. We were pleasantly surprised. We had not visited any of the gulf communities on Florida’s panhandle before and were charmed by upscale Rosemary Beach. The Pearl has a beautiful location in the heart of town close to the beach. Valet parking in front of hotel was easy and bell staff very courteous and helpful. The lobby is small, but first class. We were served champagne on arrival then escorted to our two room suite on the 2nd floor. Our suite was airy and bright and had two balconies. One overlooked the quaint mainstreet of Rosemary Beach. We arrived late so had drinks at the very posh bar and dinner in the adjoining dining room. The concierge, Wendy, was very helpful the next day in recommending future dining options. The hotel has a nice pool next to the Spa, which both my wife and I utilized. Near the pool area is a rooftop bar which we didn’t go to as it was quite cool in early March. The hotel only has a little over 50 rooms, so it is truly an exquisite boutique hotel. Hotel guests can also use numerous beach/golf options at nearby resorts associated with The Pearl. I don’t know when we’ll get back to Rosemary Beach, but we will stay at The Pearl when we do.

Room tip: I think all rooms are probably fine

The pearl is a very modern hotel that is in the middle of what looks like a little European town, with many many restaurants and shops surrounding the hotel. This hotel is good for families with older kids and business trips. It does not have access straight from the hotel to the beach but it is very close and has a great ocean view in some rooms.

Dear Traveltrouble:

Thank you for your very kind words regarding your recent stay with us at The Pearl. We like to think that our amazing location in the center of Rosemary Beach, and only steps from the Gulf, is second to none, and I'm so happy that you agree.

However, it is our amazing team of hospitality professionals that bring the hotel to life, proving that true Southern hospitality is alive and well in Rosemary Beach.

I do hope that on your next visit to 30A, we have the opportunity to welcome you back to The Pearl.

With regards,

David Merryman
