The parking was adequate, the waitress service was good at our table. The food however was not good home grown as advertised , i had the rib eye steak .Chips were frozen & the peas still were the single mushroom was full of oil from being deep fried not nice, I asked the steak to be cooked medium it came rare & bloody .To send it back would not have improved the meal..

We stayed here on our way down to Torquay for 1 night. We were taken to our room, huge with a leather sofa flat screen tv.Spotless through out.We ate dinner in the restaurant about 6pm,was quite busy for a Sunday evening,we waited an hour for food. The food was not fantastic, but it was ok,just pub grub really. Our room was lovely and quiet & we slept very well.Would stay at this Inn again if in the area again & would recommend.Very friendly staff too..

Room Tip: We asked for a quiet room & a quiet room we had..

This was an ideal stopover, nice olde world looking pub, with mostly traditional pub food, very tasty albeit a tad slow, but worth the wait. The room was a nice size, plenty of space, tea and coffee making facilities, the staff were friendly, overall would recommend.

Stayed here last month while visiting family locally, emailed ahead as needed a cot for our 1 yr old son but couldn't find anything on website about cot's. Received a response within a few hours and booked by phone.

It's a rustic pub - nothing groundbreaking but very good for what and where it is. All the staff we met were polite, helpful and generally very cheerful. Ate in the bar while staying on a Saturday night - busy but seemed well organised and nice atmosphere.

The room (no 3) was very a lot more spacious than I expected and well equipped with the basics we needed and the travel cot was fine.

Overall i'd happily recommend and will be staying again when next visiting family down that way. If you expect or want 4 star hotel standards then stay elsewhere but for a country pub it's very friendly and functional plus the food was particularly good for the price.

The food was cold, greasy and unappetising for which we waited nearly an hour with no explanation.

The decoration of the pub was traditional and friendly and the staff were attentive and welcoming however.

We stay here on the way to the West Country as it's in a handy location not far from the motorway. It also offers great value which is the main reason we stay. It's for these reasons we'd recommend. Room has no bath but otherwise well appointed. Service was good. Children welcome in bar area for breakfast.

I spent the night here on a friend's recommendation. The location is great (an hour from Plymouth) for exploring the countryside nearby. Just across the road, the rolling green farmland of the countryside is gorgeous and looks like a painting by Constable.
The pub is nice when quiet, and you can sit outside and enjoy a pint or two. The room I got was onto the parking lot with the window right there in front of everyone coming in and out, so that was a little weird, but the room itself was clean and very comfortable.
Dinner inside was crazy, it was really busy and took almost an hour just to order, then I waited another hour before my food came. The special spicy chicken curry was industrially prepared offsite in some kitchen factory, and served on microwave-reheated rice, and was kinda like hospital food. They said it's always a busy place and in fact I couldn't get reservations for my return 12 days later, so business is good. The price I paid was 49 GBP and included cooked breakfast, which was nice.
Would I stay there again? Maybe, but I'd look for some home B&B first. I wouldn't eat at the restaurant but I would have a pint there before bed and not have to drive!

Room Tip: Don't get Room 2, which is the first one and has the window right onto the pub tables and car pa...
