Great beach. Has picnic tables around. Trees too so there is shade available. We were there on a Saturday at sunset for a wedding & it was a gorgeous setting. We returned later & my wife snorkeled

Good spot for those who want to take wonderful pics with dead trees and rocks. Plenty of shade for everyone. Good restrooms and showers. But the surf can be high during winter month, be very careful with kids.
It's not crowded and very romantic. But didn't find good snorkeling spots though.

There's great (for Hawaii) coral and fish near the end of the middle rocks, and at the end of the south section, and the whole south section has 10-20x the fish the north half does. Didn't see any sea turtles this time, but very good snorkling spot for folks in Waikola / Puako area.

Sheltered from big surf (reef protected). Even shade available from many trees right on the beach.
Safe for families with children.
Limited parking. Go early on weekends...locals like it!

If you want to snorkel go to North end and go in there , go around the point toward the sea arch. You cross an open sand area but the occasional coral mound breaks it up. Please don't go onto the sea arch as its fragile and looks as if its about to fall in! Lots of colorful fish and snowflake eels
