Both the North and South courses were world class. Very unique types courses with exceptional views. In addition, they are really well maintained.

The Bermuda grass greens are fairly slow and not rolłed, but you get over that pretty fast based on he surroundings.

Great course, there is a daily special around $150 that is the only way to go. Not your typical high end course but a nice place to play if you can get a discount off the standard $185 summer rate

We felt these 2 courses were the best on the island. We also played the 2 Waikoloa Resort courses, Mauna Kea and Hapuna. The entire staff at Mauna Lani was friendly and helpful. The course was in outstanding condition. We probably enjoyed the North course the best but the South course was excellent also and the ocean holes are spectacular. The North course was very enjoyable. For instance, there were trees in some fairways requiring strategy and accuracy. Both courses are challenging with plenty of "trouble" (lava) if you have errant shots. The price is higher but the staff recommended a tee time that was somewhat less expensive. Regular price is still less than Mauna Kea but the course is just as nice (maybe a little better). We had a cocktail and appetizer after our round and they were both very good.

We recently visited Kona, Big Island of Hawaii in June 2013...and fortunately played golf at Mauna Lani Golf Club. It's actually one of the best golf club in Big Island! First, we booked our tee time at 7:00 am and after check-in a bit early, the staff gave each of us a bag of practice balls to go to the driving range for warm up. When we drove up to the driving range....oh OMG, whatta view and settings, it was definitely boosted our energy enough immediately after a few swings.

When our tee time was ready to go...it was even more amazing view right at the first hole!!! from the car path to the tee, the map...every little detail seems to perfection, at the point we figured out is worth every penny of the price we paid, the grass was well green manicured and the tee area was quite wide and relaxing not intimidating compared to other courses. I can tell you on and on through out our 18th hole golfing experience but it was just a totally relaxing and enjoyable golfing atmosphere for our foursome!.

Definitely come back any give sunday if there is a chance!

My husband and I played Mauna Lani five times in two weeks. We played both the North and South courses. The golf staff and pro shop personnel were friendly and helpful. The courses are groomed beautifully and offer their own set of challenges. We find the North Course more difficult but more beautiful.

Our only suggestion is this one: When two people pay over $350.00 a round, there should be quiet. Some of the grounds staff turned off their engines while we played; others kept the motors running. I found this annoying, considering the price. If you can help it, do not golf on Wednesdays because that is the day the greens are cut and fairways are mowed. Add that to the residential homeowners whose leafblowers are revved up and buzzing, and you have a loud day of golf.

One additional suggestion I might make: The homeowners at the Blacksand development ought to have only 2 days designated for leaf blowers...perhaps Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

We found Mauna Kea much quieter.
