This hotel is on the EPFL campus in Ecublens (near Lausanne) and nearly next to the Swiss Convention centre and several shops, with an entrance next to the tracksof the metro station EPFL. Even so , the rooms are quiet. There is a breakfast place, whcih is OK and the rooms are functional. In short it is a very convenient place to stay if you do not like a commute and do not want to be limited when to return to yr hotel

This was an excellent find based on a tight budget. It was 20 minutes away from the town center but easily accessible by Metro (station right below). The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly.
They give you passes for the metro on check in. There's a couple of places to eat on the metro station.
I definitely recommend!

To be fair, I think most people staying here either have business at UNIL/EPFL or are students or parents of students so I’m giving it 3 stars based on the avg traveler that would stay here. In that case, the hotel has a very convenient location right off metro 1 and is very clean and well priced for a Swiss hotel. The staff was courteous and basic amenities (ie an “all-in-one” body wash/shampoo/hand soap) are provided (if you’re American, do not expect lotion, bars of soap, robes, etc). There are a few fast food type eating options under/around the hotel as previous reviewers mentioned; there didn’t seem to be much open at night.

With that said, the noise was TERRIBLE on a Saturday night. The metro is one thing, and actually didn’t bother us much, however there is a disco under the adjacent tech center and it was either the music blasting out of there or people playing their own horrendous music outside the club entrance and shouting all night. This went on, under our window, until 4 am. We considered calling the police but weren’t really sure how to do so and there was no one staffing the front desk past 10 pm or so it seemed...worse, it was hot (no AC) and would have been perfectly fine with an open window, but we could not do so bc of horrible music.
To put this in perspective, I travel to Vegas often for work, and once had a room a few floors under a pulsating roof top night club there...and had no trouble sleeping. So this was pretty ridiculous. For that reason I would definitely not recommend staying here on a wknd for sure!

Side note on bed/room sizes: the single room bed is meant for 1 person (and they will charge you a fee for a 2nd person) but if you are both slim and average height you should be able to fit fine. It’s a size that I would estimate to be larger than an American twin, but smaller than a double bed; and you will only get one pillow.

Located right on the metro station and meters away from Convention Center of EPFL. Super quick check-in and checkout, wonderful staff and very clean. Good breakfast is served in the Cut restaurant. Recommended for those who are on short visit or attending conference/meeting at EPFL or Lausanne University.

Though the address says the city name as Ecublens, it is just outside of Lausanne and in the middle of EPFL campus. It is on the station EPFL. It advertises as a basic hotel, and it is a basic hotel, but a beautiful one, in architecture, value, service, and convenience. It's just 10 minutes ride from Lausanne City Center and next to Swiss Tech Conference Center. Though it is right on the station, it is on the fourth floor and you will not hear a single sound. Room is basic, but comfortable. Bathroom is modern. It's best if you're visiting EPFL or attending any conference. Also, who are well versed with Lausanne, it is just a short ride away and you can travel anywhere in the city. No car is needed. The hotel gives you a transport card for free (included in your room fare) for your duration of stay and you can use as any number of times as you want.

You can have breakfast at a downstairs restaurant, but it will charge Swiss Franc 16 ($16 or little +-). You better off having breakfast at EPFL cafes (, which are just a few minutes walk away. Downstairs also has a restaurant - where burger, bowls and many other fast-casual fares for good prices. If you add craft beer, it will cost you around Swiss Franc 20 (, which is very good in Swiss standard). Downstairs - there is a big name grocery chain - where you can buy foods, water, drinks etc. reasonable prices. Those are the biggest advantages.

Staffs are well mannered, and professional, always helpful. I will always stay there if I am in that part of Switzerland.

Note:
(1) If you're coming to EPFL for any official purpose, please ask your host at EPFL to reserve your room. They have special arrangements, and you will get discounts.
(2). Always keep the Travel Pass with you. Police does spot check. If without Travel Card, they may arrest you. I witnessed one such incident.
(3) I guess it does not have air-conditioning - but it didn't bother me at all in September.
