Owner description: Located just minutes from Perth City, Perth Zoo is a convenient and beautiful way to meet Australia's incredible wildlife. Ever wanted to immerse yourself in the Aussie outback but have Asia's stunning rainforests and Africa's wild savannah right around the corner? Perth Zoo, with over 1500 animals and some of the most beautiful gardens in Western Australia, is your ultimate day out. Open every day of the year, Perth Zoo inspires and directs all work to save wildlife. Go for a bushwalk and discover the best of Australia's wildlife including koalas, emus, wallabies, kangaroos and our enormous saltwater crocodile, Simmo. Go for a safari through the African Savannah with rhinoceros, giraffe and lions or delve into the Asian Rainforest and meet elephants, Red Pandas, tigers, otters and a colony of endangered Sumatran Orangutans. You can explore at your own pace or take advantage of the many Zoo docent volunteers who have a myriad of stories to tell and help unlock some of the hidden secrets of the Zoo. With at least half a day needed to see the Zoo, we recommend a full day to make your experience the best it possibly can be! The carousel, wagon hire, zebra car rides, keeper presentations, free electric BBQ's, picnic tables and cafe make the experience all the more worth it. For the more adventurous get up close and book a daily Eye to Eye experience - you might feed a giraffe, pat a rock wallaby or meet our quokka!

Visited on a overcast day; had a pleasant lunch & sit on the grass. Viewed every animal starting with African Savannah; & went around. Don't rush n enjoy. All the animals were out; happily visit again!

What a wonderful way to spend the day. You never disappoint, the new Orangatang display and the Komodo Dragon were trips highlights. The wonderful carousel that is still thrilling countless children was also a hit. For the housekeeping info the grounds and amenities were of a high standard.
So thank you again for this awesome Zoo. :)

This was our first visit to Perth & The Zoo which we all really enjoyed. Everything was well signed & lots of fixed maps so you knew where you were going. Luckily it was a overcast that day which was a lot better for walking about than if it were scorching.
We found the variety of animals was good, but not a lot of places to interact with them, which was a bit disappointing for our daughters (7 & 2).
There were a few picnic places which were not very clean & eventually managed to get one due to the high volume of school trips on the go that day.
We went to go to the shop by the picnic area to find out it was closed, which we didn't mind but it would have been a lot better if there was a sign up informing us of the nearest shop that was open where we could get some refreshments.
The only other disappointment was that there was a lot of work being carried out on the orangutan enclosure & didn't manage to see them.
But all in all well worth the entrance fee & a very nice gift shop on the way out.

Great day out with the kids. I have been here before with friends but its a different story with the kids. The excitement is infectious, seeing the world through younger eyes. The zoo itself is very well laid out and a lot of thought has been put into the enclosures and walkthrough areas. This should be a must for Perth locals.

Great place to take the kids young and old!!! It was very hot the day we visited but most of the zoo is under the shade of trees so it wasn't a problem. We also thought it was really good value for money even more so if you take a picnic. Highlight of our day was seeing the elephant take a walk round the zoo to get some exercise !!!
