Nobody seems happy to run this place! This is in a prime location on the James Street cafe strip, but over several years we've yet to find happy people behind the counters enthusiastic about running the business. Last weekend we did Guildford Milk Bar - a few metres down road on Saturday, then Loungeroom Sunday. GMB is cheap and cheerful, and real value for money. At Loungeroom we felt like we had intruded on their Sunday morning. Service was not quite rude, but it was certainly brusque. And with our regular breakfast companions we were happy enough to put up with the trend of going to the counter to order and pay like you do at MacDonalds, but $5 for a mug of very average coffee was a little previous! Rip-off prices in Perth are part of the cost of living here, but this seriously missed the mark. And they avoided the opportunity of coming back to the table to merchandise another coffee order from us. Perhaps they could read the resigned disappointment in our eyes. This deserves its ranking in the lower order of Guildford food outlets. Thank you to the other customers who smiled with us as we shared 'good mornings' - it wasn't going to happen with the staff. If it was the owners on duty, enjoy your hopefully brief flirtation with hospitality.
