“Wonderfully relaxing”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 27, 2012

My partner and I stayed here during our WA holiday.

The hosts were welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. They had a good selection of DVDs that we could borrow for free while we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed in the balcony room, which was beautifully and comfortably appointed. It included lovely arm chairs to sit in and a great bed.

The location is fantastic: close to the best the Swan Valley has to offer, public transport and Guildford's main street but it's still tucked away in a private spot.

Very clean. Great location if wanting to see Guildford or the Swan Valley. We stayed because we had a wedding in the swan valley and didn't want to have to drive home and it was perfect for that. Only dowfall was that although on the website they stated that they could organise a simple breadfast on arrival we found out that it wasn't an option, Staff were very friendly.

We booked our room as we were seeing family in Mandurah but because our flight was arriving very late and after a 24 hour flight we decided to stay somewhere near the airport to rest up before heading on (we also didn't want to use the usual chain hotels). This place was a perfect compromise. We arrived at about midnight with a taxi from the international airport taking less than 15 mins. We had a warm welcome and was really pleased with the room which was a little kitchenette and a large bathroom. The bed was heaven especially after such a long flight, we asked if a late checkout was possible and was told yes not a problem 10.30-11ish was fine. We forgot to set the alarm and woke at midday to which the owners didn't blink an eye and were very kind and relaxed.
I wish we could have stayed longer to explore as it looked like there was a farm of some sort out back and we would have loved to seen Margaret River. We do plan on going back to Perth within the next year so when we do we will definitely book a couple of nights here.
The Guildford train station was less than a five minute walk from the hotel which took us straight into Perth main station.
Highly recommend.

We have stayed in this lovely old school building many times over the past 2 years as we are from the country and find this the nicest place close to the airport. Guildford is a beautiful old area and there are many restaurants and shops nearby. Parking is secure and although this place is opposite the trains we never hear them. The rooms are clean and comfortable, well appointed and quiet. Jon and Shelley are always helpful and the gardens and pool are a credit to them. We actually stayed here an extra day last year just to walk around the area and get the train into the city and back. Very easy to achieve even though we have never attempted it before. Compared to the motels close to the airport this place wins hands down for value for money. It is also close to major shopping centres. We have just finished a 5 month overseas vacation and it is still one of the nicest places we have stayed.

We booked the Guildford River Retreat for two nights to attend a family event in the Swan Valley. We went for the basic studio room as we were not going to be spending much time there. The room was very, very clean and tidy, with airconditioning, a small fridge and kitchenette. Bathroom was spacious and also very clean (possibly recently refurbished?) The room was simply decorated but pleasant.

The garden and pool area was very nice, although we didn't get a chance to use the facilities. It is a shame they don't provide breakfast, although there are cafes not too far away.

This place is a perfect base if you are travelling in the area - basic, but neat and tidy. Jon the owner was friendly and welcoming. Parking is available onsite, but it is very cramped and limited. Street parking is a bit tricky as you need to park up on the verge to avoid jutting out too far into the street.

The locating is great if you ned to be close to the airport - only about 15mins away.

finding ourselves at the airport with flight not until the next day we checked online and telephoned to find this gem of a place. Jon couldn't have been more welcoming, even tried to sort out the fully booked hotel to find us a room to rest and shower in the following day as our flight wasn't until late the following day. The room was large and airy, exceptionally clean and well equipped. He gave us a jug of fresh milk for our tea and coffee. The surroundings were very pleasant, gardens at the back and an equipped gym. There was also a small swimming pool. The area has shops and restaurants where we enjoyed our evening meal and breakfast. It was a very short walk to the train station that took us direct to the city centre at Perth. Jon kept our luggage safe for us and we rested awhile in the gardens before our flight. Altogether a very enjoyable stay We recommend this hotel and only wished we had found it earlier .
