I was treated to this experience for my birthday. On arrival we were introduced to our brilliant guide, Jack, who made our stay one to remember. We stayed from Thursday to Friday. We were the only couple to have booked this date, therefore we benefited from Jack's superb knowledge and personalised service. He guided us around the park and we were able to see elegant and magnificent giraffe, capybara, antelope, deer, zebra, a male ostrich strutting around a hungry cheetah, waiting for her dinner. These were just some of the animals on the reserve that you can get very close to. We learnt about some of their habits and lifestyles as well as their history. After the safari we were driven to Livingstone/Giraffe lodge, we were upgraded to Rhino Lodge which has fabulous facilities (4 poster bed/heater/lamps/en-suite/towels/dressing gowns/toiletries etc. It also looks out directly overlooking the watering hole
Dinner was served at 7 and was spectacular. Lots of choice in the 4 course meal, mains including delicious steak cooked over burning coals, succulent chicken, perfectly cooked prawns. We purchased wine which was reasonably priced. We were able to take our cheese board back to our veranda to eat at our leisure after the meal. The following morning breakfast was served between 7.30-8.30am. Full English was on offer as well as cereal, tea, coffee, juices, yoghurt etc. After breakfast we were treated to another safari around the reserve seeing additional animals such as Barbary lions, Colin the Camel (new addition), gorillas and baboons before being dropped back to guest services where it all started the day before. We had tremendous fun and can't wait to return in the future.

Room Tip: Choose Rhino or Cheetah

We have just returned from a wonderful stay at the lodges. There were 6 of us staying in 3 luxury tents ages ranging from mid twenties to sixty. On arrival at guest services we were met by Alex our guide/ranger. We started with a safari which was so informative and a privilege to watch the animals in such a natural setting. We were taken to the lodges for a welcome drink overlooking the African Experience. Our tents had verandas looking out across the animals and the countryside. The tents had a comfortable bed with a great en suite bathroom. Our evening meal catered for all our tastes and was beautifully cooked. We woke up early and were rewarded by the giraffe strolling past our verandas, a truly magical experience. A tasty breakfast the following morning was followed by another safari.
This whole trip from beginning to end was a joy and we can't praise it enough. A huge thank you to Alex and the other staff at the reserve.

We had an amazing time. The safari was brilliant with a lovely friendly, knowledgable guide. The animals were well cared for. The accommodation was beautiful, a tent with a veranda with views of the park and the animals with the sea on the horizon. The food laid on for us was impeccable. We slept well and then had a fantastic breakfast to set us up for the day. The whole adventure was a real treat and as the weather was hot and glorious we could imagine that we were a world away.
I recommend this for anyone who loves the outdoors and animals.

My husband and I have been wanting to stay at Livingstone Lodge since it opened about 12 years ago and we finally went this year on my birthday.

We loved it.

Check in was quick and easy.

Our luggage is taken to the lodge and we got on the safari truck for the tour.

All the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

The safari was great, educational and we saw beautiful animals close up. You forget you are in Kent! We had a different guide for each trip so we learnt something different from each of them.

The accommodation is lovely. Large tents with double bed, ensuite, bath robes, heaters. Again, when you poke your head out of your tent in the morning and see a rhino strolling buy you forget you are in Kent and feel a million miles away from the main park. There were only 6 of us staying so it felt very exclusive.

The clubhouse has a seating area and a dining area. It's nicely decorated in African style. They have a good range of drinks and on arrival you are offered complimentary champagne. The food is great and plentiful for both supper and breakfast.

In short, we felt thoroughly spoilt and loved our stay, it definitely lived up to expectations and we came home feeling we had been away much longer than one night. We would definitely recommend this experience, yes it is pricey but you get very well looked after, the profits all go back in to the park and it's conservation programme and it's cheaper than going to Africa!

Room Tip: Choose an ensuite tent, they are at the front so you get the best views
