We recently enjoyed a business dinner at the Chromata Vythou. It rekindled my memory of when I used to live & work in Greece and the joy of having a long, lazy evenings eating great Greek appetizers, fresh fish and imbibing great local local alcoholic beverages...
We arrived early and being the first guests got all the attention of the restaurant staff. We ambitiously ordered a range of fish food appetizers including my favourites octopus and baby squids. At the same time my host went into the kitchen to choose the main dish of the day - a lovely white fleshed fish which was cooked to perfection as we tucked into the starters.
My hosts and business colleagues went for a local white wine but I decided to stay with a little bottomless blue bottle of ouzo and lots of ice. After a range of super, local desserts we concluded the meal with little glasses of mastika. Delicious.
In fact the whole meal was perfect - the plethora of great starters, the main course fish, cut up & served at our table, desserts, drinks, service and overall atmosphere.
I can't talk about the price - I was a guest. But this was a perfect start to my short visit to Athens and I can only recommend Chromata Vythou to others looking for a rather more atmospheric and up market Greek fish restaurant in the north of Athens.
