We arrived and were greeted by the delightful owner who was helpfulness itself. Starting off with limoncello whilst admiring Etna from the pretty balcony was great start. He recommended local restaurants, one around the corner on the harbour front served excellent fish. The rooms were tastefully decorated spotlessly clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and varied. There are sunny balconies to sit on with tortoises to admire!. Best place we stayed in and great for Etna or Catania.

Palazzo is a very nice and quiet place with the sea on 1 side and the Etna on the other side.
Silvio is a very pro host always there to help and to give very good advices.
You could actually spend the whole day in PG. There are places for sunbath (roof top) and also for relaxing in the shadow with the turtles!

Palazzo Giovanni is a fantastic place to stay while exploring the west coast of Sicily.
Palazzo Giovanni is located in the countryside (surrounded by lemon trees), in between the sea and the Etna. Breakfast is served on the roof terrace, providing a start to the day with absolutely stunning views - and breakfast itself is pretty awesome too!
The countryside location is pretty useful if you've decided to travel around by car (which we did as we were attending weddings). Palazzo Giovanni provides ample off-road parking space and is some 15 minutes from the motorway following a relatively straightforward route avoiding town centres (plan your trip using googlemaps, or use satnav, and you should be fine). As a result, it is extremely easy to be on your way in the morning, avoiding the hectic travel more typical of cities.
The rooms are nice, with more than enough space and air conditioning. The owners are very friendly and helpful.
All in all, an excellent place to stay - highly recommended!

(P.S. We travelled September 2010 - but can't select that date anymore ...)

The view of Mt. Etna from the rooftop terrace, the lovely citrus grove, the gorgeous flowers and delicious food.....could a traveler need anything else? Silvio and Alessandra have made a wonderfully welcoming bed and breakfast in an absolutely gorgeous part of Sicily. The rooms are large, air conditioned, very comfortable and wonderfully rennovated. The Palazzo Giovanni is a standout with gorgeous marble floors, beautifully decorated, high-ceiling rooms and nicely appointed bathrooms. My husband and I would stay there again any time. We were also happy to find that we could walk a short distance to a very acceptable restaurant, Magnolia, and have a reasonably priced authentic Sicilian meal. Sicily is a wonderfully diverse, beautiful and interesting island and I believe that Silvio and Alessandra respect their heritage and love sharing it with others.

Room Tip: Stayed on the first floor and found the room lovely with a street-level entrance. NO carrying the s...

First of all we would like to thank both Silvio and Alessandra for making us feel at home.
They gave us a warm welcome as if we knew them for ages. The place is beautiful with great surroundings. To vist the nearby attractions it is central Silvio is always there to give a helping hand. The views from the room and terrace are awesome . We strongly recommend this place for who is after a relaxed break.

We look forward to plan our second visit in the future..

Tired and hot with the travel from the UK and being thrown into the nightare traffic of Sicily we finally arrived in Stazzo at 2pm on a Sunday having eaten little. Just before the Palazzo we spotted the Magnolia Restaurant and we were suddenly in peace and comfort and had a splendid lunch. It was so good we ate there every night of our stay.

The Palazzo is only 5 minutes away and Silvio was soon hefting our luggage up the stairs and into one of his splendid, large, cool rooms with painted ceiling and a balcony looking straight across to Etna. He and Alessandra could not have been more helpful (though our poor Italian and their poor English made things difficult).

This indeed is a haven in peaceful suroundings and with great advice and support from the owners. Breakfast on the roof was indeed a pleasure and plenty of fresh bread, fruit and pastries were provided - though to carp a little it was impossible to get a decent cup of tea out of his machine - warm water and hot milk are not the best tea-making ingredients.

We spent a few days walking on Etna and visiting Catania and enjoyed ourselves immensely but we were involved in a minor car accident and it is worth mentioning to illustrate the help Silvio provided. When I explained to Silvio that I was concerned as to whether the car was fit to drive, he beckoned to me to follow and we sped up to the next village where he took me to a car body shop and explained the problem to its proprietor. That's service for you.

I would warmly recommend this B&B to anyone.

Room Tip: Ask a room on the upper floor.
