Did not know Pollica had a Castle. Very nice. What a beautiful little town with folks so friendly.

I can't wait to return with my whole family.

Thank Nicholas S

Hands down the best place I've been to in the area. Shout out to Francesca, Francesco, Armando and Anika for their competent, fast, lovely service.

A castle with a view of the magnificent Mediterranean, and a pleasant restaurant attached. Can't go wrong. Only note: I think they are open only for dinner and in the evenings.

When you think about a medieval castle, your imagination might bring you to a cold British morland, a Loire river landscape or a gothic dark Transilvania surrounding.
Want to surprise yourself? If you are travelling in the South of Italy, go to Cilento, an unspoiled area further south of Amalfi Coast, and visit the Capano castle in the village of Pollica:
you will find out that a mediaeval fortress can also be in a breathtaking Mediterranean location, where the blue of the sea meets the silver-green of the olive trees foliage (and no risk of a cold or a vampire bite, of course ;).
Once there, you will be welcomed by an organization of volunteers: the Pro Loco (Latin expression that may be roughly translated: "in favor of the place").
Nothing better to describe the enthusiasm and pride for their beautiful village of the super nice and friendly young guides Anika and Carmela. They showed us the different area of the castle (including the balcony with the most amazing view ever) and explained their efforts for studying and understanding the history of the castle, for which not much information is available in records and documents.
Although some of the castle interiors have limited 'inheritance' from the past (the castle was up to few years ago a private residence and went through some refurbishments), you can still walk through several environments that brings you back in the Feudal life.
Definitively worth a visit!
